As leader -and usually SOLE member- of the Boogie Bastard Mariachis I hereby entrust you with these suggestions taken directly from the cheat sheet taped to the back of my own guitar. SUGGESTION 1: Tape a cheat sheet to the back of your guitar. If you're like me, you get by a bonfire and -for SOME REASON you suddenly can't recall what's in your repertoire. SUGGESTION 2: Everything marked has GOT to go. The Green Day just gets tired half way through, and the Creed is just well.....echhh, CREED. (And nobody start with me. If YOU had been the first guy to play the band's own homemade cassette of My Own Prison on the radio, you could say whatever you wanted too.) Bob: TURN YOUR LIGHTS DOWN STIR IT UP NO WOMAN NO CRY REDEMPTION SONG I SHOT THE SHERIFF IS THIS LOVE [I]I can't believe you've ignored the BOB! This stuff is HUGE around the bonfire Sublime: BADFISH SANTERIA CARESS ME DOWN DON’T PUSH (Bluesy version adapted from the Sublime Acoustic CD) SAW RED (Ditto. The Wife and I do it as a duet) BOSS DJ WHAT I GOT RIVERS OF BABYLON (Even people who don't know Sublime, LOVE Sublime) HUNGRY HEART LOLA YOU WONT SEE ME CAN'T BUY ME LOVE SWEET JANE AND IT STONED ME BLUE SUEDE SHOES (A la Carl Perkins. Not Elvis.) EASY -The Commodores (Dude! I just learned this one last week. I thought it would be funny as hell. And it KILLS when you put it to a reggae beat. I feel a non-gay kinda vibe happening here.) END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT ([I]Bet drunk people some jump that you can remember all the words FOLSOM PRISON BLUES BOY NAMED SUE CANT YOU SEE -Marshall Tucker RAMBLIN’ MAN SOUTHERN CROSS -CNSY Willie and/or Waylon MAMAS DON'T LET YOUR BABIES GROW UP TO BE COWBOYS GOODHEARTED WOMAN IF YOU COULD TOUCH HER AT ALL Oldies: UNDER THE BOARDWALK STAND BY ME LEAN ON ME (I do it bluesy) SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME I FOUGHT THE LAW GLORIA SUSPICIOUS MINDS Stones: WAITIN’ ON A FRIEND HONKYTONK WOMEN WILD HORSES NOT FADE AWAY THANK YOU-Led Zeppelin (Do it all romantic with your eyes closed and it'll get you laid) I MELT WITH YOU Tom Petty: AMERICAN GIRL HERE COMES MY GIRL WHO DO YOU LOVE BABY PLEASE DON’T GO Rod Stewart/The Faces: OOH LALA MAGGIE MAY YOU WEAR IT WELL Jack Johnson: BUBBLE TOES ME & JULIO DOWN BY THE SCHOOLYARD Joe Walsh: LIFE'S BEEN GOOD John Cougar-Cougar Mellencamp-Mellencamp HURTS SO GOOD Neil D.: SWEET CAROLINE CHERRY CHERRY WIND CRIES MARY 80'S: PETER PUMPKINHEAD -XTC LAID -James WHAT'S SO FUNNY 'BOUT PEACE LOVE & UNDERSTANDING HONEYSUCKLE BLUE BALL & CHAIN ANGEL OF HARLEM ...Is that my biggest post ever?
