adventurechick 0 #151 May 8, 2006 QuoteI'm so unhip...what's a shark dive? A shark dive is with scuba diving. I find wrecks or places that have many sharks and I go down and swim with them, take pictures...ect. I refuse to use a cage. Whenever I go on shark dives, I'm usually the only girl... and the only one under 40. bob.dino 1 #162 May 9, 2006 QuoteBull, lemon, sand tiger, grey reef sharks.... my ultimate goal in life is to swim with the great white shark in south africa without a cage Could be fun. I've about 20-odd scuba dives (including PADI Nitrox & Deep certs), but I don't find it all that interesting. Something that challenges me could be fun - tec diving perhaps? - but just hanging around looking at fish isn't all that enthralling for me. I prefer to appreciate beauty with a few less bits of gear attached to me.
skymama 37 #163 May 9, 2006 QuoteA shark dive is with scuba diving. Ah, I was so confused. I thought it had to do with skydiving and was something all the young, cool kids were doing. Douva 0 #165 May 9, 2006 Quotewhat picture are you looking for? I'm starting to think I imagined it, but here's how I remember it: It's an old Skin Diver cover shot of a guy in a shark suit holding out big hunk of meat for an approaching shark. The shark is big, like a great white or mako. The guy is standing on the bottom and not using a shark cage. I probably haven't seen the picture in fifteen years; I just remember it being awesome.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. Douva 0 #167 May 9, 2006 Have you ever watched the documentary about the making of Jaws? There is some cool footage of them putting a little person in a tiny shark cage and putting it in the water with a great white to give the impression of a much larger shark. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with all things SCUBA and all things shark. From the time I was ten until I was twelve, I talked about nothing but getting SCUBA certified. Then, a week before I turned twelve, I got in trouble with my dad, and he decided not to get me SCUBA lessons for my birthday. So I was 17 before I got certified. By that time there was just too much other stuff competing for my attention, so I never really got into it like I'd hoped. C'est la vie. But I still hope to get to go down in a cage (yes, a cage...I'm going down in a CAGE) and see Carcharodon carcharias up close and personal.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree.
