Icon134 0 #1 May 9, 2006 What is your favorite/staple distance? I find that when I'm training... my staple is about 6-7 miles which generally corresponds to about an hour of running... If you run... how far/long do you generally run... I included the 30+ option in case any of y'all are like this guy http://www.ultramarathonman.com/ ScottLivin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... lawrocket 3 #6 May 9, 2006 I've got a great liqur store 1.4 miles from me. It more than satisfies beer run needs. Thank goodness April is behind me. My wife is hotter than your wife.
ntrprnr 0 #7 May 9, 2006 Been working on my speed this year. I'm going to break 4:00 at NYC in November, or I'm going to become one of those men you see muttering to themselves on the subway. Best so far: 4:07:56. Painful how close that was._______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." cruzit 0 #9 May 9, 2006 5 to 6 miles, and I usually can finish under an hour. But then, I'm getting old. I run with my 1-year old lab, who spends the entire run looking at me with this..."is this the best you can do?" look.
ROK 0 #10 May 9, 2006 Anything over three, and under six. The endorphins don't really kick in until about three miles. I'm slow as hell, but I can go on for a really long time. The Florida sun starts to scramble my brain after about six miles though!

ccowden 0 #12 May 9, 2006 This is the first year in a long time that I am not planning to do any races, because I simply don't have the time to dedicate to training, so my runs are always in the 3-5 mile range. When I was training, it was ususlly 10 and 15k races, so my average run was usually in the 6-8 mile range. Never under 5 miles.
shropshire 0 #13 May 9, 2006 Used to run a lot of 10K (PB 0:40:20) then had an accident and got old. I still some about 3 or 4 x 3 miles (sometimes further, sometimes less) a week (less in the winter) but am no longer worried out times, just go out to enjoy myself, take the dogs and chill. (.)Y(.) Vertifly 0 #14 May 9, 2006 I like 5 but it has taken a while to get comfortable running that distance on the regular. It used to be 3 - kindof embedded into me in the service. I am kindof a bigger person (width-wise) and any more than 5 every other day for me seems to be accompanied by lots of strange injuries every few weeks. Sciatica, schin splints, strange cramping and stuff.

masterblaster72 0 #16 May 9, 2006 My average has been ten miles daily, at least six days a week. This summer I'm stepping it up to average 12-13 miles daily, including a weekly (as opposed to bi-weekly) 20+ mile run. I've been knocking on the 3-hour door for four marathons now, and to kick that door down in the next marathon I'm going to have to boost my mileage. With the long, warm summer days ahead, and with my team practicing in the park again, I'm looking forward to it, should be heaps of fun. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
Danger 0 #17 May 9, 2006 UltraMarathonMan is a wimp compared to this guy. Terry Fox Ran a marathon everyday for 143 days straight on one leg. Over $360 Million dollars has been raised in his name for cancer research. http://www.terryfoxrun.org/english/about%20terry%20fox/default.asp?s=1 Danger

Dazzle 0 #24 May 9, 2006 Between 4 and 10 miles regularly. Currently trying to keep at 28 mpw in 3 or 4 runs with various ways or combining the milage. Was upping longer runs when training to be rejected by FLM again:-(
