Ever Blacked Out?

Recommended Posts

I'm talking about blacking out from drugs, alcohol, etc. I've never had it happen, but obviously it DOES because they've even named the phenomenon.

Considering that the Kennedy kid says he has no recollection of doign what he did, I thought I would ask how many people here have.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... yes, I do remember not remembering part of a couple evenings...:ph34r:B|

I suspect both of our hot wives have the same problem. They can't remember marrying us...;)

Only time I ever blacked out was because I missed something I should've blocked when I was sparring. Was only for a second or two, though.'

Drugs and alcohol...I find them both a bit scary, so I've never been anywhere close to blacking out from drinking too much. I don't like putting myself in a situation where I couldn't defend myself. That'd really freak me out, I think.

Have only had one experience I can relate to as far as "blacking out."

-laying on the table in operating room on my side- for morphine spinal epidural (cesarean section birth)

-the anesthetist was asking me to wiggle my toes while he was administering morphine into my spine- I kept wiggling my toes- and all of a sudden got the rush of a life time......when the drug hit my head- I blacked out. Another drug was administered to counter react the morphine and I came to, puking-

My baby boy was born o.k. and besides being itchy all over for 3-4 days (especially my nose)---and not feeling any pain...I worried sick that my son had been affected as he was so very quite for his first 2 weeks of life.

I didn't think it was possible until my 21st birthday. Drank so much it was ridiculous. Last thing I remember is walking out of the bar with my friends Chris and Chris... one Chris under each arm. My brain waves did not make it to the end of the driveway. Apparently I refused to go to bed too and had several more drinks before just going completely comotose.

I think that's a right of passage, isn't it?

Blackouts are very common for alcoholics.

Normal drinkers rarely suffer blackouts.

Pay heed to this fact people. Its not bullshit. If you routinely have gaps in your memory from drinking, you probably have a problem.

I am an alcoholic, sober for 10 years.

I had many upon many evenings that I dont remember at all, and frankly I think
Im better off not remembering ;)

It doesn't have to be from ambien. It can be from alcohol, drugs, etc. Everything but major brain trauma. Everything chemical induced.

I've done it good and proper once with alcohol when I was 21...suddenly became aware of my surroundings in a strip club in Tijuana with a girl yelling, asking me if I was ok, etc...had zero recollection of how I got there or how long I'd been there. I also had a time or two when I woke up in the morning and didn't fully remember the end of the night before.

I've got a couple blank spots from Ambien, but that's a totally different experience. We're talking FULL memory wipe. With alcohol, you can look over at an ugly woman next to you, or have a vague suspicion you said something inappropriate to someone that you meant to keep to yourself. With Ambien, it's not like loosened inhibitions that get you speaking more honestly, it's more like sleep-walking/talking, etc. I've said things I honestly don't think, and I've been told things by my ex that I now believe she didn't think. I hope I'm smart enough to know better than to drive on Ambien. I take it pretty regularly and I haven't done so yet...that said, I have been informed of my actions and statements a couple of times and found them to have been ludicrous (as well as completely foreign to me).

Once, when I was 20 or 21. I was at a party across the street, and then I was waking up in my own bed in the morning.

They told me that I'd just said I was going home and went there. Sure hope that was true :S

I have no interest in ever being drunk again. It's just not fun.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

I would go further and say if you have blackouts you have a problem, not "probably" or "could".

always scary when that happens. luckily i'm usually with people who i can trust to make sure i don't do anything really bad (or at least that's what they tell me anyway). But it's still really scary when that happens.
