Vegetarian.....

Recommended Posts

I used to buy into the "be nice to animals" morality issue with eating meat and then I thought about it...

Animals are part of other animals' food chain, this is the system that has evolved over millions of years, and if you're religious, then it is the system that God put in place. So where's the moral issue, exactly?

Seriously, W.T.F. mate?

but being @ the top of food chain does mean that we can and should be able to eat any animals below us in the food chain...

I believe in the food chain, definitely. Animals eat other animals, people.

For me (other than health reasons), being mostly vegetarian/vegan is about waste (so much of this meat is trashed when not bought) and about how they're raised/treated, etc. It's about animal welfare and over-consumption. Humans do not need bacon & sausage for breakfast, a burger for lunch and a steak dinner.:S Though many people include meat in EVERY one of their meals. They are PLENTY of other sources of protein.

I didn't know even 1/10th of how bad the treatment of farm-raised animals are until AFTER I became mostly vegetarian/vegan. Ignorance really is bliss. There are plenty of sources you can find this information even if you do not like PETA (I am a PETA member b/c they have fabulous sources of info and do all the research into companies so I know which do not test on animals, and also have links to stores/brands that sell animal friendly products & clothing.) I don't necessarily agree with PETA's tactics for "making people aware" but they do, do a really good job of exposing these terrible industries.

We can still be at the top of the food chain and eat cow and chicken and whatever else w/out having to abuse the animals beforehand.:|

:D

I haven't had bacon since I was 11. I stopped eating Wilbur alltogether for animal welfare reasons. I could go on and on and on with facts and cases-in-point, but I try very hard not to. B/c I LOVED bacon. The smell still makes me hungry. But knowing what I know, I will never eat Wilbur again[:/]

To each their own.

I'm not out joining every cancer-research fund-run, but many people do. Thank goodness they do. Each person has their own passion and can choose to make a difference in their own way with their own thing. Sure, I'd LOVE if everyone felt as I do about animal welfare, but I don't believe in pushing my beliefs onto others if I can so help it (which is hard since I'm royally opinonated and outspoken:P).
