Whoever took it is not from the farm and more than likely is not a regular visitor (probably 1st time). 2. The person is either a new jumper or a friend of a jumper that came. My guess is a young male that is new to the sport and possibly there alone. Im guessing it was somebody not a lot of people know. 3. The person is probably not very compter savvy. With laptops being relatively inexpensive and serial numbers making them undesireable to have if stolen, I sure would never want a hot laptop. The actual hardware stolen is not worth much anyway and I certainly have no desire for others personal files. They saw it sitting there and it looks valuable and they took it. This person probably does drugs too, as people with drug problems tend to steal stuff like this. 4. Unfortunately, it is probably gone forever. Even if the thief is on DZ.com, he is probably shitting his pants right now and might just dump it rather than risk being identified by trying to return it. If he is not, best chance is for some honest pawn shop owner to check serial numbers and turn it in. 5. Surely it would be easy to identify the group of stragglers at the party...Im sure there were about 10 hard core'ers left..... Who turned off the music? The serial # of the laptop was entered into the GCIC network (GBI's crime information center which is linked nation-wide) so if they take it to any pawn shop in the US it will show up as stolen and will be traceable to the seller. I don't know if there is much else we can really do now, but hope that the culprit is identified with time. _______________________________________________________ Hopefully the culprit will be found.. At first glance or to who anyone is not a skydiver, leaving your laptop with a bunch of drunk strangers seems careless. There is a special bond between 99% of us that is so strong and trustworthy that most of us would trust our firstborns with any one of us. He went off to bed probably thinking,,,ehhh, not the best idea but surely I can trust everyone here....And rightly so....The 1% a-holes are few and far between. He created a good time for people for free and risked it all to let them continue having a good time. The theif took advantage of this, probably partied all night because of his generousity and ripped him off because of it. It is almost like kicking a puppy. I would love to have this a-hole exposed.
