gremlin 0 #1 April 15, 2006 I have just got myself a new phone - the old one had keys which would not work (difficult to text coherently). Got myself a O2X1B but when I tried to put in my old sim card (from a different network) to transfer over my contacts list it will not let me - demanding a network key. Does anyone know of somewhere I can get the phone unlocked, or download software to do so, so it will take the old sim card and I do not have to transfer my contacts by hand. ThanksI'm drunk, you're drunk, lets go back to mine....
airtwardo 7 #2 April 15, 2006 May or may not work with yours but did with mine...with the sim card IN and the phone on, take off the battery and then replace...turn back on... For mine anyway, that must have cleared / reset something that let the info access w/o a problem... ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

mnealtx 0 #4 April 15, 2006 If you hit cancel when it asks for your subsidy code, it may let you access the SIM, just not let it on the network. All depends on the phone, though. Gawain 0 #5 April 15, 2006 Silly GSM network users in Europe and UK...if you had a CDMA network, you wouldn't have to fiddle with silly SIM cards. Just kidding, those can be quite convenient I'm told, except for the issue you're having now... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! RandomLemming 0 #7 April 15, 2006 Have a look at http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/unlock/o2.htm They claim that they can unlock that phone. It'll cost you a bit though. I've used them with a sony ericsson in the past and it worked fine.
LouDiamond 1 #8 April 16, 2006 You're going to need a cable from the phone to a PC with some of the software out there or a stand alone sim card reader with software. Unfortunately all the programs I have are not free and go way beyond simple phonebook transfers or are for GOV use only. However, there are a few out there that offer fully functional trials that would work for you IF you have the cable for your phone. Just kidding, those can be quite convenient I'm told, except for the issue you're having now... Whereas with CDMA you're locked to the phones your carrier wants you to have, and your phone is worthless outside of America, more or less. I personally use GSM because I refuse to use carrier firmware which is usually inferior, and I travel internationally quite a bit, so it's easy to just pop a local prepaid SIM in my mobile and have everything I need right there. That and the fact that most of the CDMA phones are awful, because the CDMA market is miniscule compared to the GSM market from the manufacturer perspective. I think within the next few months I'll probably be able to get a high end phone that'll finally do everything I want, and then I won't have to buy a new phone for years.cavete terrae. ltdiver 3 #11 April 16, 2006 Even though I hate Cingular (for other reasons), they always transfer everything from my old phone (and SIM card) to a new one for me. For free. Ah, the days of having to manually transfer everything by hand.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
