brierebecca 0 #1 April 13, 2006 Hi all, I'm going through some frustration right now, because I have a terrible professor. His lectures are bad, and he sucks at answering questions. The problem is that as soon as I start to disrespect a professor, I don't put in the work I should. And the final is 2 weeks from Thursday. How do I get myself back into a good frame of mind for the test? Brie"Ive seen you hump air, hump the floor of the plane, and hump legs. jdog 0 #5 April 13, 2006 You just have to remember that a college class is all about playing that professors game. Your grade depends totally on how well you can play that particular professor. The more I hated a professor, the more I made it a point to do what it took to get an A. Then I felt like I won in the end.
leapdog 0 #6 April 13, 2006 Learn to say oh well, it will be over soon and just do what you need to get the work done and pass the test. I was in a similar situation with my professor the class I'm in and about to finish this week. After the class is over blast him. I will get an end of course critque and I will tell the truth about what I think. I have also addressed the concerns with my acedemic counselor and she passed on the concern to a "complaint specialist" of sorts. yardhippie 0 #7 April 13, 2006 just think about how much fun its gonna be when youre done! Truthfull I always hated those types of professors. I never did well in those classes cuz I was never able to figure out how to tough it out. I think I could do it now though! Just think of more humping! You gotta hurry and get done, we've missed you at the DZ lately. Ive missed my little black humper of death! Nightingale 0 #8 April 13, 2006 Ignore the professor and learn the material from the book. Find some people in your class and form a study group. Give the professor the lousy review he deserves on the course evaluations. Don't ever take his class again.

blueskyserenity 0 #11 April 13, 2006 I agree with Nightingale. Slam him on his evaluations. Even if he's tenured, annual salary increases can be based on job-perfomance and course evaluations if they have a teaching component. Believe it or not, someone does read those. Just think...2 weeks, done with the class. Less than a month...done with being single I like coconuts. You can break them open and they smell like ladies lying in the sun! Fast 0 #12 April 13, 2006 However much you hate the professor's method of teaching, its not worth it to not put in the hard work to prove him wrong. So he is a crappy professor right? What does that mean if you get an awesome grade in the class? It means that you didn't need him and you learned the matieral on your own. Thats cool. Thats the way to be. I think that when a professor or any "teacher" is bad you need to put in extra effort to make a point to yourself and them. Back in high school one of teachers that I favored most was fired for being a hippy and smoking pot. He was a brialliant computer teacher. The young, just out of college, chick that they replaced him with, who had no respect from any of the students tried to change everything about a group of 15 of us who had already been learning from this guy for 2 years. She wasn't getting through to us cause we just wanted our other teacher back. We didn't like how she taught and she wasn't even as smart as our brightest student. (We had some pure code monkey geniuses in the class) We mostly ignored her in class every day and taught ourselfs AP computer science. I think 6 of the 15 got 5s on the exam and everyone else was passing(3) or above. What it tought me was that when faced with a bad situation don't make it worse and not care. Bust your ass on your own and prove that the professor/teacher really doesn't know what they are doing. I know what its like though, I got to retake an ethics course in college because I refused to agree with the extremely religious views of the professor. He failed me cause he didn't like my standpoint and it pissed me off a lot.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. lawrocket 3 #16 April 13, 2006 QuoteI'm going through some frustration right now, because I have a terrible professor. Not all to uncommon... QuoteHis lectures are bad, and he sucks at answering questions. Again, not all too uncommon... QuoteHow do I get myself back into a good frame of mind for the test? The professor should have no bearing on your frame of mind for the test. It's your performance, and not anything the professor did or did not do. Look - most of the students in your class probably don't like him, right? So you are in the same boat as they are. This means, again, that you are on an equal footing with everyone there. The professor didn't answer your questions? In a sense I say, "Good for him." Figure it out yourself. Work on it with a study group. Come to your own conclusions and support those conclusions properly. Rarely does law school have real "right or wrong answers" except on multipl echoice tests. The key is issue spotting an application of rules. Argue both sides of an issue (which is what I failed to do in my first year of law school) and make a conclusion. It's the process, Rebecca. Issue - Rule - Application (both ways) - conclusion. My wife is hotter than your wife.
