yardhippie 0 #1 April 10, 2006 warning rant ahead. [rant] Yes, and you know who you are! So our company keeps tickets for sporting a few major sporting venues here in Atlanta. I attend them with what ever frequency I can get my hands on the tickets. its a great little perk, you get to have a good time, meet other folks w/ the company you'd otherwise never meet. So, Hottie, Kitty and I are at the game Friday night, meet a couple others from work there and we proceed to have a good time. Not a night at the DZ good time but an evening at a sporting event good time. Seems as though "someone" complained about our behavior. Im pretty sure who it was. My question is, if you dont like the way someone is acting by you, why dont you get the balls to say "Hey, would you please keep it down, etc?" Not go back to work and run to an excutive, and get THEM to handle it for you. Coward. I would have GLADLY toned down my "enthusiasm for the game" (their words not mine) so they might have not been so "distressed". I didnt bother to say hey, Im not the only employee having a good time and getting loud, there were others. That would have done no good. I took my medicine, thats the way it works. Ya screw up. You get whats coming to ya. But to that "someone"... All I have to say is fucking grow up, and take some responsibility for yourself. If you dont have the balls to stand up and ask for change, dont bother asking someone else to change it for you. And all the petty little games going on at work, go right along with you there. I'm not defending it, saying it's right...but it is a fact, and you gotta understand that. It's just as easy to turn it around and use it to your advantage! ...it's not 'who' you are that matters, it's who they 'think' you are! Oh and ive read the company policies(probably one of the few who have). from an admistrative standpoint they can do nothing. but from a sit me in a HUGE office with an exec stand point they can. for me its best just to let it go, and let it become a thing of the past. I'm trying to belive that sometimes, even bad visibilty is better than no visiblity at all. Now I have a reason to smile, wave, shake hands with that particular exec everytime I seem him. and if nothing of this sort ever comes up again. All he'll remember is me smiling and being pleasant and willing to do my part. maybe it will help me out one day. I am not saying this was the case but the person may have felt that confronting you would start an argument or some sort of disagreement. If you are a large guy (i don't know) the person may have felt it would be better to not direct the complaint to you. If you can honestly say that you would never be obnoxious to someone who was complaining about your behaviour, and that the person new you well enough to know that then they it was in poor form to go behind your back. Unfortunately nowadays, asking people who are being disruptive all too often leads to a "what are you going to do about it" scenario. Some people just want to avoid a confrontation. Not saying you are like that because I don't know you. Just trying to give the other person some benefit of the doubt. As Kitty, or hell even Hottie (my wife and largest critic), she tends to let me know if Im gettin loud and/or obnoxious. Through out the evening we were smiling, happy laughing, etc. I am neither large, or scary looking (at least i hope not ) If thats the kind of thing that intimidates someone into not confronting me. I hope they work for me one day so I can make them miserable. Cuz I am a happy-go-lucky guy that gets along with damn near EVERYONE I meet. I wont give them the benifit of the doubt. 1. because I think I know who it was and there is a history of blowing things out of proporiton and using upper mgt to do so. and 2. even if I were to be angered by such a request, the easest way out of and resolving the situation would have been to buy me a beer. I know, Ive done it to save my ass before. I only ask for the same respect I would have given them.
