Muenkel 0 #1 January 21, 2002 The two tandems I have done has been from 15,000 feet. I am learning that this is pretty high. I am curious from the more experienced people...what is the highest elevation you have jumped from?
PhreeZone 20 #2 January 21, 2002 The highest ALTITUDE I've jumped with out supplimental o2 is 16500. Most times its at 13500. High Altitude with o2.... missed my last chance to do those....I want to touch the sky, I want to fly so high ~ Sonique
billvon 2,991 #3 January 21, 2002 Highest with O2: between 22,000 and 23,000 MSL from Mike Mullins King Air. (High altitude load to 20K, someone flashed the pilot)Highest without: 17K (a little too high for a 12-way with no O2, I thought)-bill von
MarkM 0 #4 January 21, 2002 Doesn't mild hypoxia start at around 5-8k or so, then gets worse as you go up? Bad night vision first, then coord, judgement, etc?If you do 12-15k regularly, do you use O2 on the way up?I'm curious because I've only jumped from small cesnas that hardly ever went above 9k.It just seems to me that if you were out drinking the night before, a 12k jump without O2 on the way up might mean being at less than peek performance. This is one area I don't know much about. You hear about mal this, canopy that, reserve this, but nada on hypoxia.
lazerq3 0 #5 January 21, 2002 21,000 msl which was 16,600 agl. jason
hottamaly 1 #6 January 21, 2002 22,000 with o2 18,000 withouta person could get hypoxia frome 10,000 if you're up there too long.12-13k on an otter without being on hold at altitude too long shouldn't affect you too much. Some good articles in past "Parachutist" that help explain what's up.SKYDIVING GAVE ME A REASON TO LIVE.... Jimbo 0 #7 January 21, 2002 QuoteIf you do 12-15k regularly, do you use O2 on the way up?My home DZ regularly takes jumpers to 13.5, 15 if the pilot is in a good mood or gets to see some skin, and even occasionally 16. I think that 13.5 is not uncommon at any DZ equipped with a turbine aircraft, or two, or three...This is all without O2.-Jim
QuickDraw 0 #8 January 21, 2002 "if you were out drinking the night before"er...just a quick question,i like a drink, like most blokes do..going to do my AFF in march. Are there any rules and regs governing drinking at dz,s? btw highest for me 10,000ft tandem
Jessica 0 #9 January 21, 2002 QuoteAre there any rules and regs governing drinking at dz,s?Don't start until the sunset load leaves the ground, generally. Then it's anarchy.Pet me! I'm harmless and cute!
bill2 0 #10 January 21, 2002 All of my 14 jumps, and my tandem, have been from 14,5 to 15K in a King Air. I have never noticed any problems with O2 deficiency. I think Skydance at Davis still does jumps from 30,000, but I'm not sure.
skybytch 273 #12 January 21, 2002 Quotea person could get hypoxia frome 10,000 if you're up there too long.Like four jump runs at 12,500 before finally exiting? Funny, that happened to me this weekend... Highest I've jumped from is 14999... there was no oxygen on board so I can't legally tell you what the actually altitude was... pull and flare,lisa--
Slowfaller 0 #13 January 21, 2002 two loads in a row, the 1st one went to 17,500 and the second one went to 17,000. I had a bloody nose on the second load when we were on jump run. I thought that the guy next to me was trying to say I had snot on my nose It ended up being the coolest 2-way sit/stand fly I've ever done and my face didn't get too bloody during freefall.CHris
Viking 0 #14 January 21, 2002 Highest i have gotten was 14.5 in the otter at Otay. That was awsome, i don't know how we could get more b/c the Pilot is a rather hot chick! I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver
PhreeZone 20 #15 January 21, 2002 Uh.. that should be an easy one to get altitude with. Getting chicks to flash is a hell of a lot harder then it is to get guys to strip for a hot chick...... Aviatrr 0 #16 January 21, 2002 Quote If you do 12-15k regularly, do you use O2 on the way up? Naw....we always go to at least 13,000ft here in Florida.. My home DZ always goes to at least 15,000ft.. No O2 necessary for most people - except maybe those severely out of shape or heavy smokers.. If you're up there for very long, then it can become a problem..Highest I've been with O2, 22,500ft......Highest without O2.....15,000ft.....really...seriously...honest, only 15,000, since above that would be illegal.. Tee 0 #17 January 21, 2002 The highest load I did was from 18,000 out of an F27. The plane wasn't usually a jump plane, so they were pressurizing and depressurizing the cabin instead of using O2. Unfortuntely on all 3 loads, (without going into detail) they did this wrong and everyone ended up hypoxic. But the freefall was SWEET!Tee
 Jessica 0 #18 January 22, 2002 QuoteHubba Hubba Eh? Pet me! I'm harmless and cute!
