skydivermom 0 #1 April 2, 2006 He used his incredible gift of teaching!....and helped me finish my 'A' license requirements! From packing to spotting, to finally docking and tracking, Walt has played a HUGE part in my skydiving career, and I've only just begun. Seems like he always had the right words and the perfect technique that made me just GET it! Gives new meaning to the phrase "a lightbulb just went off!" I'm glad he took video of our jumps today, because I will NEVER forget the day I got my 'A'. So yes, behind all those horrendous stories, there is a really, really awesome guy! Thanks Walt, you MADE MY DAY!Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:

waltappel 1 #13 April 2, 2006 QuoteHow cool! Congratulations! How lucky for you, to have someone like Walt to help you. WOW! Chuck Actually, it was really cool for me having the privilege of being there. She had to do some swooping and docking and a redock to finish off her license. She is a lightweight so her fall rate is a bit slower than most. We put a weight vest with about 10 lbs on her and planned the exit and dive. Shit, you should have seen her!!!!! We exited and I flew a fair distance behind her and hung out waiting for her to swoop down and over to me. To say the least, she didn't waste any time. This was a woman on a mission! She flew in clean, let go, backed out, and redocked again. This was not a matter of a few feet, either. We both backed up when she let go, so she had to cover at least 20 to 30 feet. She zoomed right in, stopped on a dime and grabbed my wrists so cleanly, I was absolutely amazed. After that we let go again and I backed way the hell down and out. No problem for Kathleen! Once again, she flew right in for a clean dock. I was shooting video, so we got positive proof that she DESERVES that license. She needed to clean up her tracking a little bit, so we worked on that on the ground, went up and I shot video of her tracking. Man, she *nailed* it!!!! She had a good day, and as I said it was a privilege to be there to see it.Walt

I'm sure that she will end up a far better skydiver than I could ever hope to be. She's gonna be good. As for the diet, no worries. Shit, she's one of those really petite women who looks like she could eat three times her own weight every day and not gain an ounce! Walt

skydivermom 0 #22 April 3, 2006 Well, I'm still in the clouds from yesterday.....not that we went through any clouds or anything It was a fabulous day to say the least. I took the video to the dz today and Jeff got it all burned on a CD with some really cool music...and then he couldn't get it to play! Something about the discs being invalid. UUUGGHH! I still have your tape, and I'll try again next week.
