Duckwater 0 #53 March 17, 2006 Max, 1. Thank God you will be OK. 2. Thank God for all the inventive people before you that have made this a very livable injury. 3. Thank God for your fellow Soldiers. You will never buy a beer if I am in the room. (and that is partially because we always agree in Speakers Corner!) Get Well fast and I hope to meet you one day and shake your hand. NoShitThereIWas 0 #55 March 17, 2006 Gawain (Max): I don't know you at all personally, I have seen you around the forums ... but I had to write something because this post brought tears to my eyes. I don't know of anything I have to offer that would be considered useful in a time like this, but if there was anything, I would give it to you. If I ever come to Kentucky, I would like to shake your hand and give you a hug. Even though you are a complete stranger, we have a connection. We are skydivers. Because of this I know we have the strength to overcome. You are a skydiver and a PFC. You are a strong individual and you will have the strength to overcome. My salute and my deepest condolences go out to you.Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #57 March 17, 2006 Are there any updates regarding how Max's surgery went, yesterday? To Max's friends in SoCal~ I am taking a big get-well card to Skydive Elsinore today, so his old DZ buddies can all sign it for Max. I will leave it in the office, until I go out there tomorrow late afternoon. I am also going to the Bombshelter on Saturday night, and I can bring the card to people who will be in Perris, then. I will most likely still be in Elsinore briefly on Sunday morning, as well. If any SoCal people want to sign Max's card to let him know that we are thinking of him, please find me this weekend. Thank you.
Amazon 7 #58 March 17, 2006 Max, I know they do some great things with prostetics nowadays and we have some vets who jump at our DZ who found themselves in a similar situation. ONe of them is one bad ass swooper and the dude just does some awsome landings. Thank you for putting your life on the line and serving our country. I know we have argued and do not always agree on things politically but you had the courage of your convictions to serve and for that we owe you a great debt of gratitude. keithragusa 0 #59 March 17, 2006 I think you're probably talking about Jay H. He's got one above the knee, one below. The above the knee prosth locks back after the toe hits the ground and he "lands" on the roller blade wheel that's mounted just above the knee joint. And just when you think that's impressive... you find out he only has one eye.

skytash 0 #65 March 18, 2006 I haven't really got much time, so won't go through all the posts and may repeat what someone else has said. Here in the UK there are two amputees, Al & Swifty, who are the most fantastic freeflyers. Having lost a leg doesn't mean you can't jump if you want to - having met Al & Swifty I know that it's possible. I'm not sure if they post here, and can't remember if there are any articles by them here, if you go to www.bpa.org.uk and follow the link to the UK mag, I'm sure there's something they wrote in that about jumping as amputees. You'll be back in the air before you know it!! tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. matthewcline 0 #67 March 18, 2006 Hey All, I just got off the phone with Max. He is doing well. His surgeries have gone well and he is looking forward to the tough, but goal filled, road ahead. He says many thanks to all who have written here, PM'ed, E-mailed and called. Hopefully Mrs. Ramsey will post soon and tell us more. She is there with him every day, day and night. Mrs. Ramsey you have my deepest respect. If I can help from FTCKY don't hesitate to call, Max has the number. If things work out Max will post soon too. He is getting some tests and screans done today and the usuall check ups after surgey. (not trying to sound benign, but Max is pretty "yeah what ever" about it himself) You all have incourage him so much that between you and his family he will be up and RUNNING (his words and idea) real soon. We have a plan standing buy for his jump return here, unless he chooses a different route and we will support that too. (but since he wants to still be a part of the Demo Team and I am the "Boss" , OK, just kidding, its his call) Thank You,An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! kbordson 8 #68 March 18, 2006 PFC Ramsey, Max, Gawain... Thank you for all that you have given in your service. I appreciate every effort and sacrifice that you had to make for my freedom as do most of the American population. I hope that recovery time goes smoothly and that you don't loose faith in your future and your dreams. Things might be more of a challenge, but don't let it become a barrier. katiebear21 0 #70 March 19, 2006 I'm floored - I just heard about this at Dublin. Max was a HUGE supporter to me when I was deployed in 2003. He was a great pen-pal (it was nice getting off the computer and doing some good old-fashioned writing over there). Chuck and I both talked to him about his options and what he was getting into before joining. He is so incredibly patriotic - definitely a hero on my books for so many reasons, personal and professional. Matt - could you please PM me with any info on how long he'll be at Reed and/or a phone number? Max - much love to you, friend. I'm so disappointed that we lost touch when I came back. You were truly a rock for me when I needed you. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here
Michele 1 #71 March 20, 2006 Matt, thanks for the updates. Please keep them coming if you can. Mrs. Ramsey, you rock. You're such a support to Max, and love him so purely...he is lucky you're in his life. Max. You are an amazing person; chatting about lots of different things while sitting with my terrified ass on the ground at Elsi...pulling grass and testing wind strength, teasing me about airweenie. You helped me through some of the toughest fear I've ever faced. Your courage serves you well...and serves as a shining example for the rest of us. And if there's one single damned thing I can do, just tell me...I'll manage to get it done. The sky waits patiently...and will be screaming in delight as you come back to her...and fly, fly with that smile (and pointy teeth...!!!) and laugh out loud as you come back into your playground. The sky waits...and we're all waiting for your triumphant return. You, PFC Max Ramsey, rock.
