Darius11 12 #1 March 28, 2006 She is not like a normal kid she never cried as a baby she is mature for her age. I was thinking of getting her a microscope I loved mine as a kid and used it all the time, but I have never had sister or a daughter so I really suck at this. I have no kids so I have no clue what the coolest thing is for a 6-year-old girl nowadays. Thanks for the help. GARYC24 3 #2 March 28, 2006 I recently bought a 6-yr girl a little digital camera. One of those disposable types.~ $20 I thought it would be something different for her and she could take pics of her hamsters, cats, etc.
ACMESkydiver 0 #3 March 28, 2006 Brats(TM) stuff. Um, or those cute lil' craft kits you can pick up in toy stores if she's crafty...ya know, make your own candles...make your own beaded necklaces...stuff like that. Or if you want to be the man of the hour, buy her a pony. -Actually, you might buy her an experience. A 6 year old might like to try a horseback riding lesson...or an ice skating lesson. -Just check with mommy and daddy, otherwise, you might be getting her interested in something the parents can't continue with if she digs it. Those little kiddie baking appliances are terribly popular, too. I think they have a kids s'mores maker, a kids ice cream maker, and an Easy-Bake Oven of course, as well as a cotton candy maker. -Check for age appropriateness, however they sell those things at Toys R Us and Walmarts, too. Learning toys are great too; you mentioned a microscope -she may be a smidgey young yet. One other thing that is fun for that age is a a pop-up play tent. Those are GREAT play forts, don't take much to set up, and mom and dad can collapse it and put it away when not in use. I'd guess those types of kid tents run from $19-$39 depending on what you get. And that age kid is starting to gain some balance and coordination; wheeled toys are fun at that age, too. Scooters, roller blades, etc. -Just make sure she has a helmet! Just some thoughts. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
Darius11 12 #4 March 28, 2006 Thank you both for the great ideas. I think a pop up tent might be a really cool idea. I loved mine when i was a kid. ThanksI'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

karenmeal 0 #8 March 29, 2006 A kit to raise painted-lady butterflies!! Fabulous fun learning gift. Then you get to release the butterflies and sometimes they may hang around for a bit. turtlespeed 220 #10 March 29, 2006 How about a tree. Help the kid plant it and watch it grow.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Richards 0 #11 March 29, 2006 Does she like dogs or cats? If not, the microscope sounds like a great idea. freefallfreak 0 #12 March 29, 2006 Wal_mart carries a really nice temporary tattoo kit that eventually wears off after about 3 days....I gave one to a friend's 4 year old on a Saturday night. Sunday morning, right before church and after getting dressed for church, she walked out of her bedroom with a zillion tattoos all over her face, lol. TripleF P.S. Mom wasn't too happy. moodyskydiver 0 #13 March 29, 2006 Ok, I just went through a 6yr old's B-day party at Chuck E. Cheese and these were the hot "girlie" items there: Anything involving My Little Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake, and Barbie Magic Pegasus. If theres going to be a party, call the mom and ask what the "theme" is for this year...might give you some ideas as to what she likes. But I like the ideas that have been science related thus far. The LeapFrogs are cool.I bought my niece one and she uses the crap out of it along with her siblings. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
GravityGirl 0 #14 March 29, 2006 My daughter just turned 5. Her favorite gifts were: A gardening kit. What I call, "Boogie in a Bag". A tent with a sleeping bag, fold up chair, compas. She already has a microscope. She loves it, but it requires an adults help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
