waltappel 1 #1 March 26, 2006 I live in Houston, Texas and it was a *beautiful* day today, so I headed out to Skydive Houston to make a couple of jumps to get current again and then (maybe) make my first wingsuit jump. Saw some of my favorite dz.commers out there--SusanJumps, MoonGlo, John Rich, and efs4ever. I don't think he posts here very often these days, but Luminous Larry was there too. It's a really nice DZ with really nice people, but for some reason they were having *severe* manifest problems today. After three trips to the manifest counter, they still didn't seem to be able to manifest me (I have no clue why--I've jumped there before and have all the waivers filled out and stuff). Anyway, I gave up on jumping there and as I was driving away, called Skydive Spaceland. DZO Steve Boyd answered the phone. It was about 4:00 in the afternoon and it would take me about an hour to get there. I asked him what the chances of me getting in the air were. He didn't mince words. "We have three Super Otters and we're flying hot and heavy today. If you can't get in the air here, it's not because there's something wrong with us, it's because there's something wrong with you, so get your butt down here!" Yeah, baby!!!! I got to Skydive Spaceland walked into manifest and was immediately on a ten minute call. Fuck yeah!!!! It get's better. I walked into the packing area to get geared up and felt like Norm on that old TV show Cheers. Shit, WMW999 was there, jlkskycam was there, and so were a *bunch* of my favorite people! Suddenly, 4wayXena (Kirsten) sees me and says, "Walt Appel, you MFer, you're jumping with me!!!" I told her I was on a ten minute call and she scrambled over to manifest and got on the load and broke out of her usual RW goddess role and did a sit jump with me. Fuck, I was in heaven!!!! If Kirsten is not a perfect example of why I love the women of the world, I don't know who is. I'm sure she thinks I'm on drugs whenever she sees me because I always have a huge smile on my face, but she has that effect on me and a lot of other people. She has an infectious smile and a twinkle in her eye and makes me get a shit-eating grin on my face every time I even think about her. After we landed from that wonderful jump, I packed and scrambled onto the plane to make another one. This time I did a solo tracking jump. I easily made two jumps even though I didn't even get to the DZ until 5:00pm and sunset was around 6:30! Skydive Spaceland fucking rocks!!!! Anyway, I hope you had a good day too!Walt

Sorry I missed you! I was on Otter loads 20 and 21 and could not get packed quite fast enough to make the sunset load. It was still a great day, though! I'd say that given a choice between being in Rome and being at Skydive Houston yesterday, no doubt, Rome would have been the wya to go. If the choice were between Rome and Skydive Spaceland, hmmmmm.....that might have been a tough call. So you gonna post pics of those tight jeans or what?!!! If the choice were between Rome and Skydive Spaceland, hmmmmm.....that might have been a tough call. While it's neither Rome nor skydiving (anywhere), I'll put the hug and kiss my two year old neice gave me against anything else in the world...they live in Oregon, so I only see them a few times a year; but Mayah's hugs and loving baby kiss - plus sharing her quesadilla with me (shoved it in my mouth, took it out and then ate it herself...), and letting me fuss on her after she grabbed ahold of a catcus at the zoo...well, it just doesn't get any better than that. Those sweet chubby arms 'round my neck...yeah, well...that's heavenly. Add to that my 7 year old nephew and 5 year old neice chasing their Noni (me) around, and drawing me pictures and tickle fights between the three of us...whatever is better than heaven, I was there. Glad to hear you had a great day; I did, as well. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
4WayXena 0 #16 March 26, 2006 Aww Shucks!!!! It was a great way to end my day of RW training with some girls on Spaceland Elektra. And I loved taking out my freefly suit to freefly in rather than as a "I've got a skinny ass, no arching student" jumpsuit. I suppose I owe beer because that was the first train exit I've done that didn't got to hell right off the plane. And then to hold a sit right after that was waaaaaaaaaay cool. The best part of the day tho was seeing Walt again. Ladies, if you like boys, Walt's one heckuva catch. He's just awesome!!! His "shit eating grin" turns a light on in my heart and he gets a big grin from me in return. He's not on crack, he's just genuine and alive - something you can't say about everyone on this planet. God Bless his stall truning little heart! I hope he makes an appearance out here at SkyFest. Spaceland's paved the runway so mud should be 75-100% less this year. Just hope J buys a couple of cases of sacrifice beer and hires 4inRelation to drink it to keep the skies clear! Hope everyone has an awesome Sunday! Not much to tell. I was a rear gunner today. Leaned out to stop a moron from going around us. Had a driver that is used to driving the lead vehicle instead of the follow. I have the door open standing on the skid. Jackass hits the gas slamming the door closed with me caught in it. I got a couple good bruises. IF I hadn't been wearing my Kevlar I might have gotten my skull crushed. It probably kept me from getting other broken bones too as it stopped the door from slamming any more on my leg. Hurt like a bitch but I lived.
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
