RkyMtnHigh 0 #1 March 21, 2006 A 7 yr old lab which is up for adoption is looking for a home here in S Florida. Beautiful dog and is neutered and all up to date on all shots. His owner decided to commit suicide and even put anti-freeze in his water bowl but he didn't drink it. I'm so tempted to go adopt him... _________________________________________

RkyMtnHigh 0 #11 March 21, 2006 Just called Rescue Rehab to find out the adoption criteria and they'll call me tomorrow. Yikes! They called back already and had me go thru the application process..damn you'd think I'm adopting a kid!!! They needed everything but my blood type! We'll see if they think I'm a fit mom for Max! _________________________________________
cocheese 0 #12 March 22, 2006 You'll be a good mom for Max.Yay for you and the dog.If they don't let you have him, wanna adopt me ?Less requirements and questions.
Stiner 0 #13 March 22, 2006 if they have the same process and the rescue group i used, they'll be calling to schedule a home visit after you pass the first screening it's kind of a crazy process, but worth it if you get him, and if you don't, you'll atleast know that he went to a place that better suit his needs. btw, it was great to see you this weekend
 selbbub78 0 #14 March 22, 2006 labs are such sweet dogs. You gotta get him. He'd be so great for you Katee. Being a hunter they are natural water lovers and good bird dogs. But besides that the are extremly intelligant and gentle. From what I have seen the are very good around children (both tolerant and playful). They seem to be protective but not overly, for example they dont bark at every stranger but if some one get physical than they will always react. As a kid when I would wrestle with my brothers/sister my lab would always protect either my sister or the youngest brother (this was always in a playful maner though) Id love to have a Lab now, unfortunatly I spend several months each year out of country and would have no reliable way to care for it while gone. Get the dog.
 Michele 1 #16 March 22, 2006 I've got my fingers crossed for you! I got the phone call "screening" tonight...then the email with a gazillion questions to ask me everything except my blood type and perhaps I'll hear from them by the end of the week for a home "visit"...should I get crazy and clean up for this visit or leave it like it is? Geez...feels like the inlaws are in town... _________________________________________
 Nightingale 0 #18 March 22, 2006 Clean up. Also, try to dog-proof the place (child locks on under-sink cleaner cabinets, etc). They'll help you with suggestions to make the place more dog-friendly, if necessary.
