shropshire 0 #53 March 19, 2006 same here ... shame that it sounds over engineered (for a live album tho') - as we've said before, he really can play. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome
masterrig 1 #54 March 19, 2006 That CD, really has a 'studio' sound to it but... who cares? I'll tell you what, there are some really incredible guitar pickers out there today. Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani and etc. When I was growing-up, i listened to Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Les Paul and Mary Ford and Andres Segovia, Wes Montgomery and a few others. There's some real guitar players out there today. I like it! Chuck
shropshire 0 #55 March 19, 2006 I hadn't heard of Joe Satriani or Steve Vai until I started listining to Eric Johnson.... I recently listened to the G3 album ... wow great stuff..... now I need more (proper guitar music is like a drug for me, I guess) As for the studio sound and who cares... well I sort of do.. I like to hear music in the raw, which is why I enjoy going to concerts and listening to life albums.... but I understand your point, it doesn't diminish the skill any. Another hero of mine... Steve Howe. We went to see him live some years ago now, but he's just brilliant. . (.)Y(.) masterrig 1 #56 March 19, 2006 Some of these guys are just sooooo good, one really has a difficult time differrentiating between live and studio. It's all good! A big HELL YEAH, for Steve Vai! Chuck
