eeneR 3 #26 March 16, 2006 Quote I'm sorry for your loss. I spent a few years doing cancer research (Dana Farber Cancer Institute & Genetic Therapy, Inc.), but I'm sure no facts or data that I post will outweigh someone's personal experience when cancer takes a life. Believe me, I know it has come along way, and I am fully aware. I have an aunt who was diagnosed 7 years to live....They tried a new treatment on her, it worked...however her odds of it were coming back as brain cancer were high with this type (small cell), and this new treatment was suppose to limit that chance. And it did. She was diagnosed and treated 5 years before my mom, it has been almost 8 years since I lost my mom...my aunt is still alive. To say that there is a "Cure" is purely bullshit. There are thinks to help battle it, but by no means is research done yet, we have years to go to perfect it. Think back to the things that used to wipe people out, that no longer do because we have a "Cure". When Cancer is one of those things, then you can say what you said. I spent a large part of a year talking to and dealing with my mom's oncologist, doing my own research etc. Cancer has so many shapes and forms....we may be close to stopping one type, but there are more that follow. Ex, Small Cell vs Non-Small Cell...grow different and must be handled different. Then there is Breast, Lung, prostate, leukima....etc. This isnt a simple thing....which im sure you know. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

Frank Miller created it. Robert Rodriguez directed it. QT was a "guest director" which probably means he showed up and gave a little imput into a scene or two. There is not only a cure, there are a bunch of cures. But those cures don't work for every person or every type of cancer, not even close. I understand that the issue strikes a very personal note for you, but that doesn't mean we need to redefine the word "cure". My niece was diagnosed with leukemia (read "cancer") when she was 4 years old. She's been healthy now for 12 years and will likely stay that with as far as leukemia is concerned. I'd call her "cured". Malaria is preventable and treatable, but it still kills over a million people a year. That doesn't mean we don't have a cure. Sorry about your mom, I lost my grandfather and an uncle to cancer. Hopefully someday we'll be able to treat all types and people, but in the meantime I appreciate the work done that has cured millions already. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" JohnMitchell 16 #29 March 17, 2006 Quote Quote I would imagine the issue of intellegent design/evolution to be an issue of science rather than politics. ..or religion rather than politics. Science or religion, depending upon which side you stand on. Or the politicizing of religion. In order to curry votes, the conservatives in this country have hopped into bed with the lunatic fringe of the Religious Right. The pols have agreed to push the RR's crazy dogma-as-science crap into my childrens' classrooms. If I wanted their heads filled with that garbage, I would have done it myself. SC, here I come. daniel_owen_uk 0 #34 March 17, 2006 Quote "To" is a preposition, most commonly used to target and focus verbs ("I mailed the package to my father.") "Too" is used either in place of the word "also," or to say that there is "too much" of something. The most annoying thing on the internet is some fuckwit that can't tell the difference, and you would be surprised at how many there are.__________________ BOOM Headshot

I think he had more than a little input, though...that putricity had his hand prints all over it! -It wasn't a terribly made movie, but the raunch and hurl factor was too high for my taste. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
