Water Ice

...and if you ask for granita in USA, with the exception of some higher-end Italian restaurants, you'll no doubt get funny looks.

Granita in sapore limone con un tocco di Galliano, mmm....

Mi piaciono anche le grattachecche!!

Yes it does.
But it is redundant . . .

Like saying Ice Water, wait . . .that's not right.

I certainly wouldn't touch the lower-end ones, not even with a pole! :P

Ciao.

Water ice (a/k/a Italian ice) is most definitely NOT a goddam snow cone. (A snow cone is just shaved ice with syrup poured over it. Much like pissing in the snow.) Water ice is a frozen dessert in which the ice is mechanically blended with the flavoring. It's very smooth, kind of similar in consistency to sherbet, but there's no milk in it. It's popular in southern New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

As for the redundant name "water ice"? I dunno, probably blame it on the Italian immigrants 100 years ago.

We have an Italian Ice stand here at the beaches, too. Actually, it's not so much a stand as a cute little hut building, but it's not a walk-in building so it's still like a stand:S:D

It's called "Rita's Italian Ice". And, yes, she is Italian:P

Exactly, but fixed it for you.;)

Tell that to Rita's Water Ice, a multi-million dollar franchise.

Then why is our Rita's called "RITA'S ITALIAN ICE"???

Oh my gosh, I haven't been this upset in ages. This is completely disturbing.>:(;);)

Yep, that's what we have here. And nowhere on the menu does it say "water ice".

In fact, on that website when you look at the selection it specifcally says "Italian ices" but I did see once I clicked on "own a Rita's" it said "water ice"[:/]

I think that's crap:P
