i was unaware of this when a friend offered to update my neptune. my jump logs are gone. booooo. just don't want this to happen to anyone else without knowing it.

I was unaware of this also, as every Neptune I've updated has retained its logbook.

The new firmware update does delete the logbook.

luckily i had read that on the website, before i had sent my neptune in for repair/update, i wrote down my jump numbers and ff time. would have been nice if i still had paralog, b ut it's all good.

Well... it's clearly marked in the readme and it only happens at the major upgrade to 3.x not while upgrading from 3.0.0 to 3.1.1 for example.

However only wimps read the manual ;-)

Unfortunately I let a friend/rep for the company grab it while i was super busy to "update it for me real quick." Lost the last 3 years of logs. Yes, he feels like shit. Just trying to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

Yeah you should have been warned. I've held off on updating a few neptunes because they hadn't logged their jumps on paper. And I also write down their jump number and freefall time so I can at least restore those after the update. The good news is that no more updates will delete your logbook again, and future updates will be a lot quicker and easier because the battery doesn't need to be removed anymore.

I'd recommend Paralog anyway because there always might be the chance that either your Neptune breaks one day or needs a factory reset due to mangled configuration.
