hookitt 1 #28 March 6, 2006 QuoteGetting into it with some retard on the internet just was never worth it for the grief it would cause a friend. They have to read the forums anyway... so it really makes me think that besides making someone angry, that clicking the Banned button and setting the banning time for 2 weeks, 3 days, 60 days, permanent... whatever is not THAT much grief. I'm sure it's a pain to clean up certain threads but if someone accepts a moderator job, that's what they get to do sometimes. Honestly this concerns me little so it surprises me that I'm finishing this post.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... I'd say that half my posts I start typing (at 95 wpm), get my initial reaction down, consider it, and then think to myself, self, "Why bother with a considered response that some banmeister is going to slash" and then just refresh the screen without posting. TomAiello 26 #33 March 6, 2006 QuoteI'd like to see you litigate that. For better or worse (personally I think it's better), litigation has little to do with the way these forums operate. We are able to operate on a more personal level than that. QuoteIt's possible that now that you've made this post, there's going to be a real run on the John Rich avatar. I really doubt that. Because if there was, it would probably require action on my part. Let's give Alex a chance to straighten this out nicely.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Then I request clarification: Does this mean it is no longer permitted for users to use another user's avatar? (Sorry about the construction, but that's English.) Is that a general rule, or does it only go into effect if the person whose avatar is being used objects? rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. TomAiello 26 #35 March 6, 2006 QuoteIs that a general rule, or does it only go into effect if the person whose avatar is being used objects? Nope, it's not a general rule. It's a moderator judgement call. I've asked Alex to change his avatar, because I think it creates confusion in our community, and I believe that one of the fundamental principles of this community (and almost any on-line community) is that people should have consistent identities. Note the use of the word "asked" in the above sentence. I'd prefer that we work at that level.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

AlexCrowley 0 #40 March 6, 2006 QuoteMr. Crowley: I notice that you have hijacked my personal photo for your own message here. You have no right to the use of my image, and I do not want my image associated with your messages. This is unethical, deceitful, and just plain stupid. Please cease the use of my photo immediately, and do not do this again. An apology from you is in order. - John Rich Dear Mr Rich, You have my sincerest apologies for any long term emotional damage that my use of your avatar may have caused you. Since the first day I saw your avatar I have felt it like a party in my mind and when the opportunity to borrow it arose - due to the 'hijack someone elses avatar' thread, I wanted to share my appreciation and pay tribute publicly. While your barbed comments have hurt me most deeply I can understand the pain and confusion that I must have caused by using your likeness and find myself wondering exactly how I can make it up to you. I will ponder this sticky dilemma and assure you that I will resolve this situation by the day's end. Your #1 Fan, Alex 'JR' Crowley. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking. AlexCrowley 0 #44 March 6, 2006 Glad to help you start your day so warmly. I still ponder the concept of avatar hijacking.
