skycat 0 #26 March 8, 2006 Even though a scanner may not be able to read the chip it will show that it is there. Best thing to do is do some research, call your shelter and find out what kind of chips they can read. Mine can read both HomeAgain and Avid, while my vet can only read HomeAgain, so I went with HomeAgain as my chip of choice. I'm not really worried about my dogs running off though, Fox doesn't like to get more than 20 feet away from her bed and Sherpa is well trained and never left unsupervised (he gets bored and I've yet to like his redecorating ideas.)Fly it like you stole it! missg8tordivr 0 #28 March 8, 2006 QuoteQuoteWe should microchip people. It's been done! I just saw these people on tv this morning! Chip people Yep....very useful applications, but like most things can be used for ill will. I like the fact that it can determine if you are having a heart attack and sent that info to someone....but I DO NOT like the fact that there is a signal being transmitted that can be used to track you down. This company is really trying to make something good here, for good applications....but in time, it will be turned against them. *** F LORIDA!
Apollinaire 0 #29 March 8, 2006 I was actually surprised to see the vet tech whip out a couple of different scanners. I figured there would be just one also. No chip registered though with either. I just got through talking with the rescue lady and she further pissed on my mood. She just got a call from a local county's pound because they "need to clean the place so they are going to euthanize all the animals there". Holy crap! She went to grab a bunch of them-- kennel cough and all. She is a saint! I almost died when I heard what she said. Man! She's going to keep this little guy with her and away from the new rowdies with kc till he finds a home. This is all too sad for me. Sadder for the dogs though! Apollinaire 0 #30 March 8, 2006 He's officially gone now. Turns out he is a young dog and not fixed at all. My neighbor was the one who looked for me and apparently the dog just had some little guys that hadn't come down yet but they are there! He also has an infection under all that hair on his back from flea bites. Poor little guy! He's at the right place now as the lady at the agency is so nice and very knowledgeable (ie she knows non-descenders from cutaways so to speak!). I'm a little sad that he's gone now but know he'll find a good home.
