Is it a CH-47? The good old Chinook?

chinooks can land in water, can't they?

I don't think so...I've flown in a couple but we weren't near water...

They can, but I think they only do it for the special forces.... an inflatable boat can drive right onto the ramp. But after the mission, they have to do a lot of maintenance and repack the brakes. They train for it in simulators though. I just happen to sit next to a chinook pilot at work... after hearing so much about them from him, I wouldn't get in one without a rig on!

I feel that way about just about every helocopter... as they are effectively fatigue failures waiting to happen... :D

Not to sound terribly petulant and impatient, but all this hedge-mo-copter talk doesn't get us any closer to the revelation of the secret aircraft. Personally, I'm thinking Micro's guess has got to be close. :o

I doubt that, considering that there is almost certainly a historical military significance to the aircraft.

Eh, I figure everyone's got to do their own thing in their own time. No pressure or anything. Your forum runs amok in your absence, no big deal. :P

Yeah, but the signals are mixed: biplanes are close; gliders are close...maybe a few WWII gilders? :P

That'd be neat B| did any of them survive? I suppose some of them did... considering they had a few in Band of brothers.

I'm basing my information on what I know about Bob and his "interest" in military history.

If I remember correctly some of the earlier clues were that you could jump from it solo or in a group which would rule out the biplane (unless you plan on hanging onto the wing) and most gliders/sailplanes... I'll stick with my guess of a Chinook...

You wouldn't happen to be insinuating there may be a WWII bomber along the lines of a B17 visiting... would you?
