Yea but the Dead Presidents rule. Like Johnny Utah wearing a suit at Bridge Day and all those guys with their President masks. That's what makes the movie worth keeping~ the bank robbery scene. Where else has Ronald Reagan played a better part ?
Yea i'm high so ...

Yeah, so the skydiving scenes aren't that realistic, but the aerial scenery is gorgeous. And I'll admit I enjoy the movie every time I see it. Plus, it was the final prompt that got me into this beautiful endeavor we call skydiving.

I'll PM my address.

My friend and i were talking about that last night. About how the dz phone rings more often when movies like that are on. Our big question ?
What were you thinking about skydiving BEFORE you saw the movie ? And why didn't you persue the game sooner ?
In other words: what was it in the movie that was so freakin powerful to motivate you to finally go jump ?
How many jumps do you have ?

The movie dropzone was more my generations point break. I saw it when I was younger and thought skydiving would be fun. That thought got lost in the back of my mind as I was several years from actually being able to skydive. Later when friends talked about wanting to go out and jump I instantly thought about the movie and how much fun it looked like it would be. I ended up making my :D jump about a month later and am right around 100 now. Skydiving isn't something that is just on your average whuffos minds. They never even think about it unless they see a parachute flying or see it in a movie or something. They see the movie and google skydiving and then bam they are on the phone scheduling that tandem.;)

"I was told that there would be no math....during the debate....however, I am prepared to answer any questions you may have....perhaps something about me and Betty ?" :)
I saw photos of Johnny Carson's jump in my early teens....had thought about wanting to do it after that, but nobody would go with me. Then a friend and I saw Point Break in the early 90s and decided to do it.....but we couldn't ever get our schedules together, lived in different states, didn't think about it that often, blah, blah, blah... My friend died in December 1999 from cancerous melanoma, and I basically did my first jump in 2000 as much as a tribute to him and our 20-year friendship as I did it for me. I never thought I'd do a second, I just wanted to see if I would actually let go of the plane at crunch-time.

The visuals from altitude, and the gung-ho enthusiasm in the acting....although it might not have been "acting" as I've found out during my jumping career....I still get a huge adrenaline rush when that door opens.

I like that piked loop exit that Patrick Swayze does...

And Anthony Keidis fighting over the lawnmower was cool, too. :)

Not to mention that cool little "lean over backwards" move he does inside the tube in that one scene.

I am getting sick and tired of all the Point Break bashing.
Although maybe not one of the 10 best movies of all time, this movie has the merit of combining suspense, action, and beautiful love scenes. Yes, maybe the skydiving scene is not 100% accurate, but it is damn close to what a skydive really is.
I would also like to point out Keanu's performance in the movie, which is, in my opinion, one great piece of acting. From the begining to the end, he captures the essence of his character, and takes us through a wide and always surprising range of emotions.
I rank this movie on par with classics such as Poison Ivy III: The last seduction, among others. So please, people, if you have nothing nice to say about what is a great movie, STFU!:|

I really enjoyed Cutaway :$ kind of like a skydiving porn movie - really thin plot but lots of nice skydiving scenes B|

I agree. Similar to Linda Lovelace's performance in Deep Throat. It's about time that these movies get the respect that they deserve. :|
