airtwardo 7 #26 February 25, 2006 QuoteIt's too bad I've got no local friends who know anything about it. It looks like a really fun game that I'd probably suck at. You've never played? Yes...I actually did in my youth. There were several places in central Illinois that offered league play. My sister got me 'into' it as something to do during those boring Midwest winters. ...Then I started jumping! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

murrays 0 #30 February 26, 2006 The Canadian team was based in Newfoundland, the home of screech and it brought everything on "the Rock" to a standstill. The third from the Canadian rink, Mike Nicholl, had the best quote after the Gold Medal game.... "You kids in Newfoundland that got the day off to watch the game on TV owe us. The rest of you that are partying...pace yourselves:we'll be home on Monday."-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
NWFlyer 2 #31 February 26, 2006 I was thinking ... some of this smacks a little of whuffo talk "How difficult can skydiving be? You just fall, right?" For example, I was watching a little four-man bobsled last night at the gym (sorry, it was on Canadian TV, so it was bobsleigh). Anyway, I joked to the guy next to me that I wanted to be one of the middle guys in the sled... I figure all they really are is ballast, and I can do that part. But I realize, I probably grossly underestimate the skill and talent that it takes to make it to that level and that by saying they're just "ballast," I am most likely belittling their accomplishments. At any rate, I have an immense amount of respect for people who work at whatever their sport is to make it to the world-class level. I also like that the Olympics evolve to bring in sports that are becoming more popular, and yet maintains some of its more traditional sports (or bringing some of them back... curling was just brought back to the games in 1998 after a 74-year absence). Guest #33 February 26, 2006 QuoteCanada GOLD ! Congrats, even if they killed the game with the 6points end.(could easily have been 7...) Saw the gold match (Canada vs Finland) live here at Bondsteel. That was awesome, and the best match I've ever seen. The skip was really colorful in the way he hollered. Even the commentators were startled at him. One of them said something like "I'll bet they heard him in France." (18 mi away from the site). In the shop the next day, I said, "Man, did you guys see the curling final last night!?" Their reaction: "I don't get it." mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
