PLFXpert 0 #26 February 23, 2006 I've been there a few times in my life. I'm the type that when I feel some way, I act on it instantly. If I'm not happy, I find a way to make myself happy. Although, otherwise intelligent, I quit my first job out of college after 1.5 years w/out having another job lined up. I just knew I was OVER it. The problem (and the nice thing) was that I did VERY well instantly out of college. I knew it would be difficult to find another job that would pay as well AND have greener grass. I was fortunate to have enough means to pay all my bills (after all, I'd just bought my first house 6 months earlier) for several months while I searched for that next thing. I found it and I absolutely LOVE my current position. I work from home, don't deal with "Big Brother" or asshole clients, and am now making more $$$ than my previous position. But, it's taken me a year to get there. That year was a struggle, admittedly. I became even more pissed than I was before even, at times. But, it was well worth it! Hope that helps youPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

BUT, that entails staying where I am, and bustin my ass in this next year or so. I have put a lot into this company, and it would take a lot for them to let me go.....but I am the kinda person that needs/craves change. Whoa...soooo similiar to my previous posted example. OK, so maybe not 32...my goal was 45. Sheesh! 32??? I seriously had plenty moments of doubt after I left--as if I'd just screwed myself. But, I'm SOOOOO happy now. And my goal is still well within reachPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

freeflir29 0 #30 February 23, 2006 Hmmm.........I SO know exactly what you are talking about. I have been a little scared a few times in my life because I keep having to move on. When you make the jump it's scary but for me..........it has ALWAYS led to better things. I started life (As an adult) in the Air Force. I almost got out then they offered me another job and I took it. That was a little scary as there was a lot to live up to. Liked that job so much I stayed for another 6 1/2 years. Finaly got fed up with the Air Force and got out after serving 9 1/2 yearsThat scared the shit out of me but damn had they provided PLENTY of motivation. Only took me a couple months to find a decent job in the computer business. Did that for two years until I got to the point that if I sat at that damn desk one more day I was going to eat a bullet! So........I quit to open my own business. I spent a couple weeks doing very little. Did ONE whole job that paid me a grand total of $125. I was sorta getting concerned till someone called me back on an application that I had made just about a year before. It was an EXCELLENT resume bullet so I took the job. To think.........me.........a Federal law enforcement officer. Did that for 2 years until I couldn't take the bullshit anymore. There were civilian companies offering to DOUBLE my salary. Almost a year ago now I dumped that job. I have NEVER been happier to be honest. I am doing a job that I love. Although it's in a place that I hate. Overall.........it's a good gig and each step has taken me higher and higher and closer to my life's goal of NOT having to EVER work for anyone else. In the mean time......I really am getting to help people and I'm making PHAT cash in the process. I couldn't be happier to be honest. You are a smart chick that ANY company would be lucky to have. Take no freakin prisoners and get what you deserve!

missg8tordivr 0 #32 February 23, 2006 32 is my favorite number .....I have always thought I would retire from either becoming really rich, or because I would be starting my family. Maybe both! I don't think that I would ever be able to NOT work....I would go stir crazy. My 'retire' at 32 is more of a not having to rely on my career to keep my head above water. Does that make sense?? Basically I want what everyone else wants....do what ever I want, within reason , and not have to worry about money.*** F LORIDA!

missg8tordivr 0 #34 February 23, 2006 Thanks for that post Clay! I think that there really is going to be a time limit that I will stay at this job. I figured give it another year...if things haven't changed or there is no progress in getting the company sold, then I will move on. I enjoy learning things, and when I get to a point in a job where I am not learning and instead doing the same thing everyday, I get bored and want to move on. Good luck reaching your goals! *** F LORIDA!
