WHich aircraft would you want jump out of full time..

I'd love to hear more about the PAC 750. It sounds perfect for my DZ from a business perspective, but I really don't know much about it from a jumpers perspective. I know it climbs fast, but what else do jumpers like about it that has you prefering it over a super otter?

We have one. The only real advantage over an Otter is that it's a hell of a lot cheaper to operate.

The door is significantly smaller than an Otter, and a bit smaller than a Caravan, which means you may need to reengineer your 4-way exits. Our IC could launch from her feet in the Otter/Caravan, and needed to go to one knee for the 750XL.

The tail is low - wingsuiters can hit it if they're not careful. It's in a very similar position to a Caravan. Maybe a tad lower?

It's prone to stalling if you put too many outside, so jump-run is pretty fast when doing 8-way. The newer planes have modifications to move the CofG forward and make stalling less of a issue.

Nice bars outside. There's two steps outside, one of which is a long way down.

Our TMs really like it.

There's great visibility, so the ride to height is pretty.

Edit: if there was no difference in cost of operation, I'd take a Super Otter any day of the week.

I love Skyvans and have many wonderful memories of DC-3's. But if I had to pick one airplane for life, it would be the Twin Otter, no question about it. The one thing that scares the hell out of me about a Skyvan is how do you get that ramp open for a quick emergency exit ?

I would have to say PAC, caravan or cresco.

I'm not super keen on having 20+ people in the air with me at the same time. I don't trust people.

I prefer no more than 15 or so...

Crescos are tight, but I love the exits, caravans are roomy..

But I think that if I could only jump one airplane the rest of my life... it would be a 182!!

Show me a 3 that can float ten. I have not seen one that can float that many.

I can show you a D-18....

Is that photoshopped? With the guy on the prop?

No photoshop. Old guys way back when...
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

KingAir for comfort and climbing speed.

Otter is definitely best for those competing, but I'm not at this time, and I find a full load climbing at 800ft/min in the hot summer to be a bit uncomfortable. And it's a bit harder to get the number of jumpers to turn it.

Pac is like the KA, but with the low ceilings! Is that where most of the fuel savings came from?!

I'm surprised at the Skyvan votes - my one jump will hopefully be the last. Or I need to bring good earplugs. That flight hurt a lot.
(I do love flying the CASA once a year at the American boogie)

To do a single scenic jump, 206U with the huge window door. Great view for a long long flight.

I've never jumped one, but looking at the door, I don't think I'd ever want to do 4-way out of one.

Yep, and the fact that two engines make it more expensive to run.

Half the number of engines mate. PAC = 1x PT6-34. Super Otter = 2x PT6-34. Mullins KA = 2x PT6-34 (I think).

Sitting near the door is much quieter than sitting near the pilot. But yeah, when Garretts are involved, earplugs are a good idea.

Its possible to launch a 4-way but it isn't easy and the only one I've ever launched is a round and the guy inside needs to be a contortionist during the launch to prevent being broken in half by getting caught in the door...

They are great for freeflying... (or so I'm told.):P

The beech 99 at Skydive monroe is faster then most otters I've been on and they have a big door... which is great for launching 4-ways... B|
