skymedic 0 #1 February 12, 2006 Anyone else have one? Mine seems to have lost it's luster. is this normal? anything I can do to shine it back up. Otherwise I love the thing. Thanks!!! Marc
Kris 0 #2 February 12, 2006 Doesn't Andyman have one? I could have sworn... One thing you can try is a jeweler's polishing cloth. It's a very fine abrasive (2000+ grit). My titanium band is doing the same thing a bit. If I buff it with a cloth, it seems to come right back. Kris 0 #3 February 12, 2006 Oh, one other thing...if the binder in your ring is cobalt rather than nickel, that may be your problem. Cobalt will react with your body chemisty and leech out, giving you an oxidation like tarnished siver, which can't be polished or ground out.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I thought cobalt wasn't too healthy for the body. I still love my ring...just wish it was as shiny as when it was new. Also barely any scratches on the thing. and I beat it up pretty badly at work. Nightingale 0 #8 February 12, 2006 Ah. they seem to be fairly popular here. Sounds like you ended up with the cobalt binding instead of nickel binding. You may want to replace it, as there isn't really a way to remove cobalt tarnish.

Whip it into a reducing environment at a few hundred degrees C for about an hour - viola.Scars remind us that the past is real

skymedic 0 #14 February 13, 2006 Well after some more research looks like we got a cobalt bonded tungsten ring....that kinda sucks. Wish I had done a little bit more research prior to us getting this one. I still love it...too bad it can't be polished out. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....
