PLFXpert 0 #51 February 14, 2006 I'm a big card person, too. I send them mostly but LOVE receiving them. It's like reading little notes telling you how wonderful and loved you are...who doesn't love that? But, presents? Valentines? Ehhhhh. If I want something, I'll buy it myself. I feel the same way about buying something for someone not knowing if I completely just wasted my $$$. I'm not a big fan of gift exchanges. But, I do love when my hunny gets me that one thing I would have never thought of to buy myself but then somehow can't live without after I open it. I don't know how he does that. He's amazing. I just buy him these killer jeans he loves, but would never buy himself. That's just how we roll....Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Vallerina 2 #55 February 14, 2006 QuoteBut, presents? Valentines? Ehhhhh. If I want something, I'll buy it myself. I'm the same way. I don't need gifts, and I was raised to believe that I don't need a man for money (I never let guys buy me dinner or anything like that.) However, it is just fun to buy people small little things to make them smile! My friend just gave a Flying Spaghetti Monster shirt, and I got him Dress Up Jesus (these were our Christmas gifts to each other! ) Now, I love FSM and all, but I would never think of buying the shirt (maybe a coffee mug.) But, I love it! He wouldn't have bought Dress Up Jesus, but he laughed hysterically at it. No, gifts aren't a requirement, but they sure do make life more fun. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

PLFXpert 0 #57 February 14, 2006 Quote(I never let guys buy me dinner or anything like that.) Back in high school/early college I can't remember paying for a thing But, those were the days when you went out for drinks/dancing, not so much dinner. We split bills down the middle, typically, and have never argued over finances. But, there's still something about "the man" taking the bill when it's brought to the table. I wouldn't' want to take that away from him. So I buy groceries, other things, and when the dinner bill comes, he always pays and I feel like I'm being treated. It's a good systemPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Neither do I...except last night, Mike grabbed the check (from the waitress' hands, no less) and wouldn't give it back. He's in trouble for Valentine's Day. Whenever a woman complains about me picking up the check, I just tell her that she can pay next time. And I am not just saying that. I mean it, the next, she pays. it feels more like giving if you just alternate. of course, that requires a second meal. my ex and I used to "fight" ALL the time about picking up the check. It was not I who insisted on paying though...it was HER! I would run to the bathroom and come back and it was paid. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. DoTheDrew 0 #62 February 14, 2006 I actually dig valentines day. The passed few years we have made it a little tradition with all the single guys in the office. We all cut out of work early, go play a round of golf, drunk drive the golf cart and have a barbecue. Of course the next morning I hate valentines day, but thats nothing a glass of water can't fix. PLFXpert 0 #63 February 14, 2006 QuoteNo, gifts aren't a requirement, but they sure do make life more fun. Sometimes...call me a grinch, but I get annoyed when given a gift most of the time. B/c most likely I won't want it or have use for it, yet am then required to find a place for it so it can take up space, which is usually in the "re-gift" stock pile in the closet that inevitable ends up at Goodwill if it hasn't been re-gifted by the end of the quarter. So you see, said present is like giving me "work" for Christmas or Valentines or whatever the day may be. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. lisamariewillbe 1 #64 February 14, 2006 My poor baby boy, is now suffering his first break up... He has had a girlfriend for about 3 weeks, the last few days she had been ignoring him and today when he gave her the really cute valentine he made her along with the stuffed animal he conned me into buying, she dropped them and said he was a stupid head. Girls are evil. Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
PLFXpert 0 #65 February 14, 2006 It goes both ways. My boyfriend in first grade told on me when he saw me cheating on my spelling test (looking back, I can't believe I even knew how to cheat at that age!). Of course, I HAD to tell him he was a stupid head after that!Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
