QuoteIf you dont have at least 20 its hard to consider yourself anything more then an infant
Over 400 jumps and I still consider myself an infant in the sport.
Easy Does It
Quote...IF when you are not jumping, you are still trying to learn...Either by reading when away from the dropzone, or paying attention and watching,, when you ARE at the dz, or by frequenting this fine forum, or by watching instructional type videos... That would be what separates YOU and others like you...
Jimmy nails it...you are a skydiver if you have a level of commitment to the sport. If not, then you're one of those idiots who jump out of perfectly good airplanes.

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Well, i wouldnt say I jump out f a 'perfectly good' airplane... but i do jump out. I am not sure i will ever consider myself a skydiver, yes, i participate in the sport of skydiving, but i think i am more of a ... prefessional faller. but then, by no means do i consider myself a preofessional at falling yet. maybe a few thousand jumps from now?
ohhh, i just drained my skydiving fund i keep, payed for 2 coach jumps, grad jump, 5 solo, and packing class. *looks at his bank account* darn, going without dinner again.. no wait, thank God i work at
Disneyland foods.

A typical "Skydiver".
A good whoufo friend of mine after finding out that I skydived told me he knew another skydiver . After a while I met this guy.
It was in a bit of a rough crowd and when this guy turned up he was jibed and known as THE skydiver. He was sprouting skydiving tales and generally being a typical gregarious loud mouthed skydiver.
Then my friend introduced me and told the guy that I jumped too. THE skydiver quietened down and asked me the how many jumps question.
When I told him that I was an instructor and tandem master he shut right up . It was like I'd burst his balloon at his 5th Birthday party. I was going to ask a few questions of my own but he bustled off .
My mischievous friend then told me that the guy had done a couple of tandems a few years before and wouldn't shut up about it.
Funnily enough this guy later attacked me out on the road when he was pissed but luckily I saw it coming and dodged successfully.
Some skydiver
....attacking another skydiver cause he was shown up . Some people just can't handle the truth .....even skydivers.

Love that story.
Shoot, I couldn't shut up after ONE tandem! Of course my solution was to actually become a skydiver. I still have trouble shutting up about it sometimes![[:/] [:/]](/uploads/emoticons/dry.png)

I think most people do. I certainly do. That's because most people compare themselves with their contemporaries and "elders", rather than comparing themselves to people with signifigantly less experience than them.
Talking about how much better a canopy pilot Jay Moledzki is than you makes you a humble learner. Talking about how much better you are at freeflying than an AFF level 8 makes you a jackass.

I've had two funny things happen when I talk about my skydiving.
One time when I told a family member I had 40 jumps, they asked if I could take them on a tandem.
Also, at about 150 jumps, a guy asked "So have you gone solo yet?"
