Zeemax 0 #1 July 26, 2004 So there i was watching top gear last night (BBC 1 car programme - UK) when in the coming up bit, i hear something along the lines of 'landing his canopy..' but thats all i got as i was on the phone. Decided to pay more attention and sure enough... A guy called Tim (not heard of him) and his mate who races cars. Tim is jumping from a Cessna and is trying to swoop and land in this merc bveing driven at 50mph down the runway. Took a few attempts, but the finnaly got it. Very cool... Anyone else see it??Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
mr2mk1g 10 #2 July 26, 2004 Yup - Tim Carter (surely you have heard of him) swooped his canopy into the back of a moving Merc soft top. Plane flown by Craig Poxon's girlfriend. All filmed by Andy Ford (next you'll be telling me you've not heard of Fordy). Should be on skydivingmovies.com soon enough.
Zeemax 0 #3 July 26, 2004 i only heard tim my bad... yes i've heard of everyone else though they did say at the end, it was the first time that it had been done? surely team extreme have been there done that, coined it in on the T shirts?Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
mr2mk1g 10 #4 July 26, 2004 I know team extreem did it onto the back of motorbikes - I think they did that at Netheravon (at least - if not elsewhere too). I've not personally seen anyone do it into a car... but I'd be surprised if no one has already. TV always has to have a superlative.
Zeemax 0 #5 July 26, 2004 not sure if it was swooped, but a canopies definately been landed in a moving car. Austin Powers (think it was gold member) if you watch the DVD they show you how they did it, but i cant remember...Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

BASE813 0 #9 July 26, 2004 from what I could see the following people were involved in the skydiving aspect of the stunt: Swooper: Tim Carter (VX 69 - i think he flies - someone may like to correct this!!!) Camera: Andy Ford Pilot: Catherine Glinister (skydiver) Groundcrew: Mike Perra (sp?) (skydiver) EvilIvan would be able to build on anyone else involved as he shares a flat with Tim, and as far as I know Tim does not come on the forums..... cpoxon 0 #10 July 26, 2004 QuotePlane flown by Craig Poxon's girlfriend. I could say something here but I think I'll just leave it at what Mac said, it's Rich Orford's better half! Hopefully, the Sky+ box will have recorded it and I'll get it onto skydivingmovies.com when I get back from Sweden.Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Brains 2 #12 July 26, 2004 Quotethough they did say at the end, it was the first time that it had been done? surely team extreme have been there done that, coined it in on the T shirts? If i remember correctly, Luigi Cani swooped into the back of a pickup truck (Ford) for a foreign(for the us anyway) commercial. I have also seen them swoop onto the back of atv's, motorcycles, boats, and under the london bridge All seen on video only, never in person. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
cvfd1399 0 #13 July 26, 2004 I watched a video where a guy swooped and caught up to a moving car then had to pull a ribbon that was tied in a bow off the antenna.
evilivan 0 #14 July 26, 2004 QuoteEvilIvan would be able to build on anyone else involved as he shares a flat with Tim, and as far as I know Tim does not come on the forums..... OK then..... Tim was flying his VX 79 Pilot was Catherine, but it would be rude not mention that Tigs was also on the plane. I would guess the 'pilot in focus' had something to do with the cameramans gender.... Other details correct, although I think Mike spells his surname Pira It has been done several times before - famously in Austin Powers, but Team Extreme have done several tranfers with a variety of vehicles. What they said about the practice on the show was pretty close to the truth - something like (NOT a direct quote): one day practicing, driver on the runway, skydiver down the side of the runway. At different airfields.... They actually did also get some practice together the day before, but it wasn't going as well as hoped and the outcome on the shooting day was as hollywood as the presenter said it was."If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." Deuce 1 #15 July 26, 2004 Quotefilmed by Andy Ford (next you'll be telling me you've not heard of Fordy). Yeah, I can even see him from here. He's sitting with Jari and John LeBlanc. I'm getting to film him in a half hour. Very cool.

mattjw916 2 #19 August 2, 2004 Skydiving + TopGear = major woody I absolutely LOVE that show, and download the episodes online since I don't get BBC. :( Jeremy Clarkson and company are the BEST hosts next to Tiff Needle of 5th Gear of course. dropoutdave 0 #21 February 7, 2006 Does anyone know what type of bullet cam Tim has got on his helmet? I've seen a few bullet cams but not one big enough to fit a standard wide angle lens off a dv cam on? Any ideas? ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......
Zeemax 0 #22 February 7, 2006 is it definately a bullet cam? The angle doesn't make it clear, but it could, note only could, be something like a Sony PC107/9 I jump a 107 and it's pretty damn small. Also takes a 'regular' sized wide angle lens... Well done on pulling up a thread thats nearly 2 years old... dropoutdave 0 #23 February 7, 2006 I think it is, it has a cable running down the back of the helmet like a bullet cam would have. QuoteWell done on pulling up a thread thats nearly 2 years old... Zeemax 0 #24 February 8, 2006 Watching the video back, i'm even more convinced its not a bullet cam. It seems to have base that could certainly be a 107/9, and also would accept that wide angle... the cable could be something like a cam eye, or even a mic for the beeb?Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
