cancina 0 #1 February 23, 2008 I am new to skydiving, actually I do not even start my aff course for a couple of weeks. Anyway, I have been looking into a couple of helmets to buy. Either the Z1 Evo, or Skysystems HR2. There have not been any reviews on the HR2, but I read one review that the Z1 is merely a thin shell with a liner and that it possibly might not provide any type of protection in the chance of a collision with either a skydiver or an object. Granted this is only one review, but after going to their website, I can not see any type of rating or any type of testing done to show how it is made or what standards it is made to. I have not seen or felt either helmet in person and wanted some advice before making a purchase. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... But for looks, I'd say the HR2. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
cancina 0 #3 February 23, 2008 Thanks Ed. I know, I know. Save my money. I am just getting some ideas for later when I am going to buy my own stuff. How is the weather in Lodi? I will talk to you very soon.

AndyMan 7 #5 February 23, 2008 My other Z1 helmet isn't very durable, so I don't know why the Evo would be... My favorite skydiving helmet is my Pro-Tec, followed by my Bonehead. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
skybytch 273 #6 February 23, 2008 Like Ed said, the Protec is likely the helmet that will provide the most protection for your head. Skydiving helmets are not tested in any way, shape or form; the only standards they are made to are the manufacturer's. They're great for holding cameras and audibles, for keeping your hair out of your face and for keeping your head safer from small bumps and scratches. But an actual real impact? It might help but there's no guarantee of it. Best advice you can get right now is to do a few jumps before you buy anything.
