Twoply 0 #1 January 27, 2006 I'm interested in a radio controlled glider that I saw a few guys flying at the Dz. I've looked at a few online but there are so many and I dont know what I'm looking at. Does anyone have any suggestions on good makes or models? Thanks! Mike

bazelos 0 #3 January 27, 2006 Well gliders are good to start with, not very expensive, you might even be ok with a 2channel radio, but I think the best thing to do is just ask one of the guys at the dz, they might even let you have a go I never flew a plane, I got a heli two years ago, damn difficult to fly! I managed to smash it and it's now sitting in my bedroom. That, or go to a hobby shop and ask where they fly their models, you can go there and get a lot of info about models/costs/etc. Again, don't just get something from the net and try to fly it. Plus, a lot of these models come in bits of wood and you have to put the together, have you ever build a static model before? The site is owned by a former skydiver/base jumper and he is pretty good about answering questions. I just ordered my second plane, I bought a XR Glider from combatwings.com, none of me nor the guys I build with have tried this one yet, so I would recomend staying with the zagi 5c, which you can order from hobyhorse.com. Get the powered one and get atleast a 4channel radio so you can upgrade later and not need another radio. If you get into the hobby you will find a good 4 channel is a min, and that any 2 or 3 channels will be just a waste. Also the cost is not much more....A local hobby shop (that I spend WAY to much time at has a JR 4 channel for 130.00)"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
