Viking 0 #1 January 12, 2006 And not just to move or to get somewhere. I mean like a long ass road trip. I think the longests I'v done that wasn't just a get to point B pronto was from San Diego to San Fran with the family when i was a kid. The longest drive was a two day trip with my mom from Louisiana to Cali back in 2000 when i moved here. For the last couple weeks I'v been getting the bug to do a long road trip on my own. Its probly from reading a book called Long Way Round about Ewan McGregor and his buddy Charley Borman riding two BMW bikes around the world from London to New York. I also recently picked up the DVD of the series they did for Bravo and Its givin me the bug to get a bike and go do a trip to Seatle or something. lolI swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
peacefuljeffrey 0 #2 January 12, 2006 In July 2005 my girlfriend and I drove from West Palm Beach, Florida north to visit her family near Rochester, New York. Along the way, we stopped at a place in Virginia called the Flying Circus Airshow and took a biplane ride in an old Stearman. After seeing her family, we went east to Albany, stopping along the way at the Turning Stone casino (one of those Indian casinos, as I am told). Hit Albany, took the Taconic State Parkway south to Long Island to see my family. I got to do a skydive at Skydive Long Island. On the trip south back to Florida, we stuck nearer the coast than usual, and passed through parts of Delaware and Maryland where my girlfriend used to live. Ate at a big all-you-can-eat seafood restaurant in Ocean City, Maryland called Phillips (ohhh, man that was good!). We stayed overnight in a seedy Budget Inn or something in Virginia Beach -- in a stinky, overpriced smoking room that was all we could find -- and then the next morning we drove to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for my first-ever pilgrimage to the site of the world's first powered airplane flight! -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Amazon 7 #6 January 12, 2006 Longest.. HMMM 1986 in college and 3 of us hopped in my 1967 VW Bus and drove from Portland OR up to Vancouver BC.. then ALL the way across the Trans Canadian Hwy.. with some side trips from time to time since all three of us were Geology majors.. we banged on rock out crops from coast to coast. We took one side trip WAY up into Quebec... then on over to the big metor crater north of the St Lawrence. We crossed via ferry to NEw Brunswick( took another small ferry across to PEI so we could all say we had been to ALL of the provinces of Canada. ON down to Nova Scotia... then a ferry over to Port au Basque in Newfoundland. ONce on Newfoundland we drove the main highway all the way across to St Johns and saw the place where Marconi sent his first Trans-Atlantic radio signals to Europe. From there we drove south and took a little ferry across to France... well the most westerly Department of France.. 2 small islands left over from the French and Indian war so France could maintain fishing rights on the Grand Banks. VEry cute place.. then back north again.. stopped at Terra Nova... saw the Viking Settlements then back to the west and over the ferry back to Sydney NS. From there we travelled south... into Maine.. and onto I-95 and south to FL. Visted some relatives.. then drove down to the Keys.. chartered a sailboat for a few days.. and went out to the Marquesas west of Key West. From there Back up the West coast of FL with a few stops visiting more relatives in Tampa. From there over to Narlins..... Houston.. and the Space Center.... Then to the Grand Canyon for a LONG ass hike into the Canyon.. In July... arrrrgghhhh from there over to LA... then up I-5 and back to Portland.... total miles about 11800 in 2 months and 2 weeks. The bus was running a tad slow when we made it back.. we had about 500 pounds of rocks from all across North America.
