woodpecker 0 #26 March 27, 2008 majick/myth again? Please explain? Yes the slider controls the openings 'as well' but I didnt buy a smaller slider to speed up my openings...I just stopped rolling the nose and viola! First time I've ever hear this described as a myth. Not flaming, just curious.SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? You can place the slider more over the nose or more tailwards. What do you think how long your roll will hold in those winds of opening?
Loonix 0 #29 March 28, 2008 I jump a sabre 1. I don't roll the nose, and I don't roll the tail very much either. I'm just paranoid about keeping the slider spread out and all the way up. My openings are fine To the OP, test jump it. You like, you buy. Quote Many of the new canopy designs take 700 to 1000' to open. Meaning that the peak force is lower and the opening is softer. But, in my mind those are malfunctions that eventually clear. Well said

ChangoLanzao 0 #31 March 29, 2008 I have a Sabre 135. I've put more than 600 jumps on it and we are both still in very good shape. I don't roll the nose, just stuff it in. I always make sure the slider is un-collapsed, all the way up, and quartered. It always opens nice and smooth; almost always on heading

My last jumps on that canopy were still after 20-30 jumps on my new Sabre2-150. Buttery soft. I purchased a new slider from PD when I bought the canopy bu that thing opened as soft and more on heading than any Sabre2 I have jumped. My packing technique was to roll the nose and stuff the shit out of it into the pack job. It seems from other posts that the rolling is not as important as the stuffing. I know many of people that jump this canopy (cheap, forgiving) as their first wing and is such a good choice. I have no regrets on jumping that canopy and would jump one any day. I jump a Sabre2-135 now just cause I can afford it better and I am starting to get into swooping. As said before....Jump it if you can. Each to their own. Each canopy has a different personality. za_skydiver 0 #33 March 31, 2008 If you want to slow the opening down, just buy a bigger slider. Thats what i did for my Sabre1, i emailed PD and they told me what size slider to get for my Sabre if i wanted to slow the openings down. I dont touch the nose, dont roll it, or shove it in. I just make sure the slider is quartered properly and the stabilizers (the bits with Sabre logo on) is shoved in under the slider. Some dream of flying, i live the dream... raftman 12 #34 April 2, 2008 Go for it! I had a thousand jumps on my old Sabre 135 loaded 1.5:1. Roll the tail, roll the nose, quarter the slider. I can only remember 1 opening that was hard enough to uh...well.......remember.
billvon 2,990 #35 April 2, 2008 Had a Sabre 1 150 for around 1000 jumps. At first it kept slamming me. So I put a pocket on it. Openings became very nice. Towards the end of its life it started opening _too_ slowly - so I took off the pocket. It started slamming me again. Didn't take me too long to figure out the pattern.
