firstime 0 #1 March 23, 2008 I am at a loss as to how these nicks got there. Should this be a concern & if so can it be prevented
TonyJ 0 #2 March 23, 2008 possibly when the bag is collasped flapping in the wind on the ride down? tony
Programmer 0 #3 March 23, 2008 The grommet should be smooth on the inside. Looks like the one on the left might not be. I would have a rigger look at it in person. As for the cause, I wonder if the grommet can come in contact with a rapide link in the pack tray - just a wild guess, but that's the only thing I can think of other than what TonyJ said. riggerrob 643 #4 March 23, 2008 After the d-bag opens, grommets slap at random. sometimes they slap together and trap canopy fabric (guess which component suffers?) ... sometimes grommets slap each other ...
butlerhr 0 #5 March 26, 2008 See this thread for a similar situation. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1258647;search_string=%20grommets;#1258647
firstime 0 #6 March 27, 2008 Thanks butler, I don't feel alone. I guess stainless is the way to go if it gets worse.
butlerhr 0 #7 March 28, 2008 Have the rigger who replaces the grommets sew a piece of webbing on the bag flap between the grommets to stiffen the flap and the grommets will not hit each other nearly as often. The bag in the referenced thread was modified that way and 900 jumps later the grommets are slightly better looking than yours. Good Luck
