AggieDave 6 #1 December 31, 2005 Thanks to everyone at Eloy, it was another fun boogie this year! It was great meeting new friends, meeting old friends for the first time and seeing friends I haven't seen in a long time again. Firstly, Grue, sorry we didn't get our jump, it seems that we were coming and going to loads at different times for different things. Man oh man, did a good number of 8-15 way RW jumps with Airspeed guys (and gal) as well as 3 of the sunset bigway attempts. Man, one of those was kickbutt, the second had exit timing issues, but the third one is one I'll remember and talk about for a while. No, for those of you not there that day, it didn't make, but it sure did make some memories! Well, Morgan and I are talking about saving money to come back to Eloy for some tunnel time, some more jumps and possibly another Holiday boogie in the future. This time we'll fly though.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
shall555 0 #2 December 31, 2005 Seconded ! It was terrific to meet AggieDave, Grue and Evelyn (sigh). The weather was incredible, the folks were friendly and the sky was clear and blue. There definitely was a great vibe there. Cheers, shall P.S. Got to meet Greg Gasson (wow). The first thing he said was "Let's make some jumps". Incredible. AggieDave 6 #5 December 31, 2005 Well, since I'm probably one of the first folks who were there the first day but couldn't stay till the end, I thought I'd start the wrap up thread. Thank you so much, again, for letting us crash in and temporarily clutter up your trailer. That made the trip much more enjoyable, since we didn't have to spend money we don't have on a hotel or be in a tent (like we thought we would). We went ahead and made it a 2 day return trip since we had a bit of vacation money left over and grabbed a hotel room in Ft. Stockton...and man did we crash really early! We're still exhausted.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
jumper03 0 #6 December 31, 2005 NOOOOO! A total of eight reserve rides during the boogie today. 6 yesterday.....5 the day before..... HAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA the beeer trailllrer rocks...Scars remind us that the past is real
AggieDave 6 #7 December 31, 2005 Holy crap! 8 rides today? If I can pack that spanking new Mamba in the grass in a hurry and not have to *actually* chop it, then whats the dealio man? It must be nice with that shiney new rigger's ticket of yours to be packing non-stop during a HUGE boogie...folks are hopefully tipping well for you getting their rigs turned around quick and done well for more jumping at the boogie. Has any of the formation sunset loads completed in the past 2 days? Any as "eventful" as Wednesdays?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Nah, I've been creating my own excitement at Eloy that has nothing to do with my reserve. Dave - it was great to meet you and Morgan - sorry we didn't get a chance to jump together, but we'll definitely catch up at the next boogie."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. riddler 0 #18 January 2, 2006 Weather was the BEST we've had in the past four years Jumps with Airspeed were awesome!! Big thanks to Craig, Eric, Brian, Kirk, Andy, Eliana and all the organizers. Proud to be part of the record-setting eight cutaways in one day Crazy line twists with spinning mal. First left, then right - horizon at 45 degrees or more then entire time. Fought it until 1500, then chopped. Brian Burke came and picked me up - Paul found everything, including my cutaway handle. My first chop in over three years My packing is pretty meticulous, and I'm still not sure what I did wrong Some really great Colorado peeps came out to share the experience. Lots of fun. Got some sort of cold the last two days. Man - three out of four years, I've gotten sick at this boogie Some really fun big-way formations Thanks for the good times, everyone. We'll see you all next year Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
Elisha 1 #19 January 3, 2006 Yup, it was great...the two days I was there. I feel like a wimp compared to others since I was only there from the eve of 12/29 to morning of 1/1...still was great. I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to Brandon, Tiffany, Sudsy Steve, Arthur and others. If you are reading this, I'M SORRY! Orchid dropped by while you were not at the DZ.com tent and got all my stuff that I couldn't carry and thus no second trip to get other stuff. I really appreciated being invited out to dinner and on those fun dives. Now I just need some video to help remember them by!
Deuce 1 #20 January 3, 2006 Um. who gave you a firewire for free of your teeny-weenie wife's airspreed jumps for nothing but hospitality? I am the man. And Dave? Never pull your badge out when you are not in uniform in your own jurisdiction when you don't have the PC to kill a motherfu*cker. You'll figure it out, but remember the public love firefighters and hates cope. When you are out and about, never tell the locals you are a cop unless you have PC to cap a fizzle. Love you Holmes. Your wife is a beauty and a very good flier as well. 10-10 JP
KillerKimmy 0 #21 January 3, 2006 Shame it wasn't as big as last year. I wonder what happened. Captain Kim
AggieDave 6 #22 January 3, 2006 I didn't, just to my friends, venting some anger after someone on the local waiter staff decided to be very very rude and disrespectful to my wife. I did go ask the guy to apologize to my wife and he begrudgingly did. I did that as a person, not as anyone else. Then to keep it cool, we left. Oh, side note the firewire didn't take on my camera for some reason (even though it was setup correctly), we got back and went to watch it and we had nothing. Wanna make some money on a DVD sent to us, of those jumps? PM me with what you want so I can get a copy of those jumps for my wife.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." bbarnhouse 0 #23 January 3, 2006 QuoteShame it wasn't as big as last year. I wonder what happened. Actually you are mistaken. The registration was higher and jump numbers were as well, about 18% higherWhat was missing were a lot of the vendors for reasons of their own. They were however, invited. Sometimes there is only so much they can doThere are lots of sponsored folks out here though that would have been able to answer your questions, and Square 2 has demos
