Scholarships?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of any good scholarships or have any good advice of where to look for some?

I've tried the various scholarship search engines without much luck; I'm a middle-class white girl, with little community service (I work and go to school) and no leadership. All I have is a good GPA, some small school-related volunteer things and a bunch of crazy skydiving stories. I'm planning to work as a speech-language pathologist.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm just going out on a limb here, but you might try the Sertoma Club. They have given scholarships to students with disabilities, and I enjoyed their scholarships when I went to college. If they don't give scholarships to people wanting to serve the disabled, I'm sure they could help point you in the right direction...

fafsa.com for the federal Pell grant. Apply for financial aid through your college. Sometimes the school you go to has a scholarships for more than excellent GPAs. Don't forget that when you file your taxes there are breaks for paying tuition.

Try www.fastweb.com... they have a bunch listed.

Also, go to your college's alumni association offices and ask them for info on scholarships. Many times they have a single form you can fill out which serves as an application for multiple scholarships at once.
