Hey have the winds been doing

No wind today or yesterday to speak of.

Damm.. that sucks....

NOT! :D

Um, well, it does sort of suck, in a good way.

For those of us who jump pretty highly loaded canopies at sea level where there is usually a breeze, that first landing at Eloy in calm winds can be pretty, uh, focusing.

Eloy does a great job at briefing, but there will be more canopy traffic than a whole lot of people have ever seen. Touchdown speeds can be the fastest a jumper has ever put their feet down.

The type of landing you want to be able to do is to flare enough to get your feet down, bleed off the speed with your shoes as you swoop out while you finish the flare, and not end up running so fast you face-plant.

I remember Karen hurting her leg a few years ago, and I don't know if the difference in altitude landing performance was a factor. I tore the heck out of my knee one year trying to run one out a few years back.

Both landing areas at Eloy are like giant pool tables. Well groomed, flat, and free of obstacles. But they are at about 1800 feet (sorry Bets, is that close?) so your 150 is much more of a 135 and so on.

Take that first landing at Eloy VERY SERIOUSLY, just like you were downsizing, if you haven't done that before.

You Colorado folks can just move along.

we all know they say it in montey python; quest for the holy grail. you are not as witty as you think.

Ouch. (just re-read this) Of course I'm not as witty as I think. That's only more proof you haven't met me.

Actually, my favorite misunderstood slang is the American use of the word "bangs" to describe the shorter hair of a woman over the eyebrows. Means something totally different in Oz.

The look on other people's faces from different cultures when you screw up like that is priceless. Tell a beautiful Australian girl in a bikini she has nice bangs and she will not say "thanks".

Ok, as of right now Morgan and I are in Jumper03's trailer drinking Shiner Bock and relaxing. Of course we drove straight through once I got off my shift yesterday so we arrived here about 1100 local time. Took some time to relax, run into Casa Grande for some food stuffs and here we are.

WHERE ARE YOU? :P

P.S. you can tell me anything, I don't shock easily~~

Um, I once forced a guy to walk on stumps thinking he wanted something to eat when his speach impediment kept me from undertanding he didn't have any feet.

That even shocked the hell out of me at the time, but it is a pretty funny story when told with beer and bonfire.

-somebody help me out here.
