nbblood 0 #1 December 22, 2005 I just got a new Blackberry 7290. I'm feeling like I am way overconnected now. I'm the guy that refused to own a cell phone two years ago. Now I've got this device that "allows" me to send/receive email, keep my calendar, store detailed address information, surf the internet, and a ton of things I'll probably never figure out. It synchs itself to my computer information and allows me to be at work 24 hours a day. Is this device a good thing? Will I ever be able to sever the ties with this ball and chain? Does this thing have an "off" button? Really, though, this thing is pretty cool. I am somewhat concerned that I am way over-accessible now. I really do need to find the off button.Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
riddler 0 #2 December 22, 2005 Don't worry - the best feature is the receive email - the others you only use after you've gotten used to that. I use a lot of the features now, but that's only because I've had the thing for four years. I use the send email when I'm not in front of a computer, which is almost never. The calendar can be useful for stuff you're likely to forget (like meetings) 'cause it has a reminder alarm. I use the contact manager too. You won't use it to surf the internet, because most of the pages won't load, and the ones that do take forever and you can't read because the screen only shows a few lines at a time. Off button is the same as the on button - you just need to hold it down for like five seconds.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
DTOXX 0 #3 December 22, 2005 I have a Blackberry for work and it is both great and a curse. We have a Blackberry server attached to the Exchange (email) serve so I not only get email as part of my regular work email but it syncs to my Outlook Calendar, Tasks, Contacts. It is just like I am sitting in from of Microsoft Outlook. The only way to avoid others now it so use the "I was in a meeting and set my phone to silent." excuse. ------- D.T.
