Well, that and I will not spend nearly a grand for a fucking video game console. Not when I got about 12 games sitting on my table for PS2 and Gamecube that have not been completed yet. That does not even include the Xbox I haven't bought yet! Plus, did you see the prices of the new XBox games? They were going for 60-70 dollars at EBGames. I mean, damn. RULE: Wait and buy used. You won't miss anything. There are still people online playing fucking Halo 1 and even Quake for the the PC. So, its not you are gonna miss anything. Awww...don't steal my sunshine... noblesmelissa 0 #52 November 28, 2005 QuoteI bought the regular XBOX last year, and got a warranty with Best Buy that lets me exchange it for a 360. Planning on doing that this week AWESOME!! How did you swing that deal? Im not the video game fanatic in the house but the hubby decided last year that one xbox in the house was not enough so we have two... for the kids, of course, he says... noblesmelissa 0 #53 November 28, 2005 QuoteQuoteI heard it's the power supplies (again). One of the solutions to stop the Xbox 360 stablity is to hang the power supplies in mid air, or put a fan blowing at the power supply. Or prop it on the edges of an open box so that the bottom can cool itself. I don't think Microsoft did real-life testing of Xbox power supplies in the overheated crevice behind a very warm TV set... ROFL yeah they just kept it in a 0 kelvin room whilst testing, come on. You can do as much testing as you like you sell millions of a product in a few days the failure rate gives a very skewed perspective. Personally I think you are gonna be a very very popular mum come xmas day. Thank you!! I told my 8 year old (who really wants one!) that people are crazy to spend that much money on those things. I also told him people had to be insane to stand in line that long for a dumb video game system...

wildblue 7 #55 November 28, 2005 QuoteQuoteI got a chance to play my friend's 360 last night... wasn't too impressed Let's hope PS3 is a lot better. Didn't get to play, but watched others play at EB yesterday. For $400, also not impressed. What is with all the hype around the 360? Isn't it just xbox version 1.5? They rushed a minor upgrade out (faster processor, graphics upgrade) in time for the holidays, and then created an artificial shortage of machines to help with the hype. And now (shock) they have overheating problems. Yes, anyone who pays more than retail for it needs help. And why wait in line for 20 hours? In a week you'll be able to walk into any electronics store and pick one up.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
riddler 0 #56 November 28, 2005 Best Buy was offering a warranty plan that let me return the XBOX and wireless controllers for a complete refund within two years. The next-gen xbox was due out six months later (but really took a year and a half). So I get all my money back. I have to pay the difference for the higher price of the 360, but it should be only about $100. Scratch the idea of getting one this week - it looks like everyone's sold out. Maybe in January Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

hexadecimal 0 #60 November 28, 2005 You should sell it off on eBay now, and promise your kids an XBox with 10 games (which you could easily pay for with the $2k+ they're fetching on eBay right now) after Christmas.

Also, why did the line stretch so far if there were only 26 systems? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

There is WAY to many games I have yet to play for the ones already out. I figure I will get a PS3 in 2007. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. wildblue 7 #67 November 29, 2005 QuoteToo bad PS3 is probably gonna be around 450. Yeah, I'm hoping that'll drop. I'm guessing to ~ $400 maybe? The 360 is $300... is the extra $100-150 worth all the extras? I think the PS3 is supposed to come with the HD, blue-tooth and wi-fi built in, and blu-ray support. So.... maybe. As for 'not being a real gamer' ... ummm... yeah. I've been playing games since they were black and white blocks! I'm not saying the 360 isn't a decent platform, I just don't understand all the hype, and the PS3 is going to be superior. I think a good chunk of the console gamers out there are waiting for the PS3. Of course, Sony already has most of the market, so that might not be saying much. Regardless, by the time the PS3 comes out, the 360 will probably drop in price.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
Tenshi 0 #68 November 29, 2005 If you haven't tested it yet, better do so. It would be a shame when your kids play it on christmas eve and it crashes. The best games you can get are "Oblivion" and "gears of war". Haven't seen anything else that impressed me. Don't feel bad about buying one though...it will surely rock (plus buying it on the opening day gives you a longer internetpenis) I, however, also don't buy consoles on the release date: 1. They are expensive 2. They are subject to malfunctions 3. There are only a few (good) games out I'd say those three are reason enough not to buy one just yet. People who pay EXTRA on ebay etc. are crazy idiots who don't know the value of money.
GTAVercetti 0 #69 November 29, 2005 Well, without the extras on the XBox, you basically have a nuetered, no online capable box. It can play games but cannot get updated content or use XBox Live. The only reason they even have the choices is so that they can say that they have options for those who find the 400 a tad high even though the option is pretty worthless if you are going to bother to get a 360 in the first place. These machines actually cost more than the pricetag, but I will still not buy one for quite some time. And it will probably be a PS3 first. Oh yeah, you know that deal for the iPod? They got one for PS3 - just get some free trials and it is yours - no referrals. http://www.onlinerewardcenter.com/rd_p?p=96980&t=528&a=free%20ps3 Since it ain't coming out for awhile, I am doing it slow. From what I've heard you have to have an HDTV for it to be impressive. I have a perfectly good PS2 (used to have the PS1) and until it goes belly up there will not be a replacement anytime in the near future. Derek don't you dare go and see how well a PS2 can live in a freezer. Fly it like you stole it!
