Nobody has mentioned Greensleeves. That has to be one of my favorites. As for jingle bell rock, they can flush that one.

'Greensleeves'... un-doubtedly, my very favorite! I have several versions of 'Greensleeves' but, my favorite is a dobro solo by Mike Auldredge.

Oh man, he had some magic dust.......a little bit for the reindeer, a little bit for Santa Claus..... a little bit more for Santa Claus.....a little bit more for Santa Claus:D

Thanks. That reminds me of something else I need to download.

Make your answers count kids. I'll be using this as a study guide in case I get asked to DJ the Xmas Boogie @ The Farm

I like virtually every Christmas song ever written or sung. Even "Grandma got Run Over by a Reindeer" :)
That said, Greensleeves, John Lennon's "And so this is Christmas," and "Adeste Fidelis" are ones I like hearing. Well, and "Silent Night" and "Deck the Halls"

you get the picture

Yeah, that means "my real good friend..":D
Of course, it's hard to maintain your comic timing when the only thing on your mind is Oreos and pork rinds, but in their off time.....:S:S:S:S Hell, Tommy Chong just got busted for selling cutsom made bongs on the internet.

Honorable mentions:
Billy Squier - Christmas is a time to say I Love You
U2 - Christmas, Baby Please Come Home
.....And Mariah Carey sucks Demon C***, but the Foghat version of "All I Want for Xmas is You" Rocks!

Nice goggles VSG! My favorite X-Mas song is Do They Know It's Christmas by Bono and more people. B|

Thanks! The original Do They Know It's Christmas? (Feed the World) in 1984 by Band-Aid is also my favorite as much for the song as for the message. This is a more modern recording of the song, but I very MUCH prefer the original recording.

As long as I'm in the holiday mood and haven't listened to the songs too much, I often enjoy hearing most of the holiday songs for a couple of days or so. Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Adam's Sandler's Hanukkah song:D, O Come, All Yee Faithful, We Three Kings of Orient Are, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Let There Be Peace on Earth, etc. are all fun.

The one song that I've always found to be annoying is Jingle Bell Rock.

I hate almost every traditional, commercial christmas song ever made, with a few exceptions... names escape me presently.

.

Couldn't agree more :o. Almost without exception they are awful.

I like traditional carols, like In Dulci Jubilo, Sussex Carol, Coventry Carol, Personent Hodie, Hark the Herald Angels (how could something by Mendelssohn be bad?), We Three Kings....

Worst was when David Bowie and Bing Crosby killed "Drummer Boy"

I think Perry Como is the only singer that ever did that song justice...

Gimme a break!

Little Drummer Boy

"With a musical range of exactly seven notes, a scale-like melody that only a first-year piano student could love, and repetitive, mind-numbing lyrics, this song is the musical equivalent of watching paint dry. " M.G.

"There is no Biblical precedent for it! The shepherds don't want any kid beating a drum when they are trying to get the sheep bedded down! Imagine Mary saying: `I just got the baby to sleep, and here comes that kid with drum again !' The whole song is simple, tiresome and irritating."? L.P.

"Every time I hear it I think `oh no!!!' It's lugubrious and schmaltzy in the extreme? V. B.

"The most embarrassingly mawkish song ever composed." K.K.
"Funeral music," D.I.
"Definitely the most boring." M.E.T.

"Repetition may have been sexy in Ravel's Bolero, but this song just drones on and on and on with no appeal whatever. Besides, drumming to a baby?" C.D.

"Even when sung by children accompanied by an actual little boy playing drums, it's interminable." B.L.

"Hearing grownups sing "Parum-pum-pum-pum" really irritates me." J. McL.

"The tempo is screwed up, the lyrics don't quite fit, and the tune is atrocious. The lyrics are soppy, and that chorus is downright awful." L.C.

"Parum-pum-pum-dumb," M.M. .

" My husband actually likes this song. I am not sure I can stay married to him after finding this out." L.S.

" Let's drum this one out of the corps!" F.L.

"Sweeter than a pop-tart, and less nutritional value." E.W.

"Hate the lyrics. Hate the rhythm." J.B.

" If the drummer boy were really at the Christmas scene, someone would have asked him to shut up ." B.M.

"I'd like to kick that pencil necked little geek right in his rum-pa-pum-pum " H.B.

"I feel morally obligated to register my loathing...it makes the skin crawl. " J.H.

"I'm sure it appeals to the same people who collect Precious Moments Figurines." P.S.

"I have to leave the room when it comes on " T.T

"Utterly without redeeming social value." P.V.

"Just plain ghastly. " P..M.

"I believe it is played nonstop in one of Dante's circles of hell." .. L.Z.

"This year, join the LDB Foundation in our drive to eliminate `The Little Drummer Boy' from public performance. Studies show that one out of four Americans experience nausea, headaches and feelings of desperation and dread on exposure to this music.. How can you help? Refuse to patronize stores that play it. Refuse to enter malls with strolling singers who perform it Wear this `Thank You For Not Drumming, Little Boy' button. If you're at someone's home and if they put on a CD with `The Little Drummer Boy,' don't hesitate to speak up Together we can overcome `The Little Drummer Boy,' but we need to be united. Zero tolerance is the key. Let this be the year when `The Little Drummer Boy' is drummed out of the Christmas repertoire?.The LDB Foundation, working to make Christmas a day we can all be happy." "A full-symphonic version of the most tedious Christmas song ever written, `Little Drummer Boy,' dripped from hidden speakers in the showroom" p. 484 of "The Corrections" by Jonathan Franzen, copyright 2001.

Mary: "Will you get that moronic kid with the drum out of this stable - can't you see the baby is trying to sleep!" Mary of Nazareth, 0001AD

Don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel. :|

The 600,000 entries in the Oxford English Dictionary do not include the necessary words to describe how I feel.

OMG!!! The earth is going to stop spinning on it's orbit... Kallend and I agree on yet ANOTHER thing... if the author of that song were alive today, I'd give him a really really bad B.A.E.*

Such uproar over a sweet song. The point of "Little Drummer Boy" is that a poor child found a way to give a gift to his newborn king. Beautiful.

Since there's no evidence whatsoever of that ever having happened, I suggest it was really a rich music publishers' way to make a few more bucks, which is supported by the evidence. ;)

Of course it did not happen....but I could argue that about most of the Christmas story. It is a beautiful IDEA.....that no matter your economic status, you still have some sort of gift to offer God.

Didn't have to look too hard. New and used from $3.85. And yeah, now that I've listened to the sample, I can see why you'd want it. :D
