skycat 0 #51 November 8, 2005 Thanks Eric, Now I have a partial list of DZs I will not jump at, since I'm looking to start event jumping and travel jumping. Since the only power in this I have is to vote with my money, it will not be spent at these establishments.Fly it like you stole it!

TomAiello 26 #54 November 8, 2005 Do you think it would be helpful if many people wrote letters complaining? Or is it not that kind of process? I wonder if an automated online letter writing system would be useful in this kind of situation.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
headoverheels 333 #55 November 9, 2005 QuoteHere is a partial list of DZ's that I know take them. Thats the results from States A-O. Parachute Center at Lodi Hmmm, it must be interesting for them to show up and see that they paid 65% more for the Skyride certificate than the standard Lodi tandem price. sunshine 2 #56 November 9, 2005 QuoteJaye - take a look at the "What Can We Do About Skyride" thread ... there's info on the countersuit and even a place to download the document. Ya know i won't even bother with that thread anymore. It's just way too big. If a mod would lock it and start a skyride part 2 thread i would actually read it again. Until then, i gotta get my info from someone that actually still reads the original thread. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! AlexCrowley 0 #61 November 9, 2005 Just in case anyones thinking of doing this or similar. It is illegal to DoS a website. There are laws that cover it, it is not 'too new'. Please consider this before running off half cocked. There is no anonymity on the web. Unless you're good (or have a few thousand infected zombie PCs to do your bidding) you will get caught without too much trouble. Your ISP will not protect any imagined right to privacy you may think that you have. Secondly, most commercial biz sites aren't running on Tripod - in otherwords, a) most business sites do not have bandwidth caps, unless their really cheap. b) you run up their bandwidth you push up their bills OR c) you run up their bandwidth and Dos their site: either way you have cost them real $$$. Third, I can't speak for their particular site, but if someone could somehow impact my GigE pipe (in the 120 Mbs traffic my company site gets) from their home connection..(think about that for a few minutes - many hosting facilities use similar huge pipes out).....they trip alarms, pages get sent, firewall automagically blocks your access. In extreme cases we follow up with the ISP, run background checks and invite them out to lunch with the company lawyer in attendance. I then threaten to hit them with a chair. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
jsaxton 0 #62 November 9, 2005 Like you said, unless you have VERY large bandwidth ;)
PhreeZone 20 #63 November 9, 2005 You threaten to beat them with a chair? I used to just beat them first then asked if they wanted to do it again. Company lawyers are a great asset to have along. Slap a suit then laugh. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

IanHarrop 42 #75 November 9, 2005 You might want to start reading the thread from this point... There's a new thing from a SkyRide employee http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1919358#1919358 Apparently they are just trying to do business in the "real" world, their employees have bill to pay too and they feel hurt when negative things are said."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
