sd-slider 0 #29 December 10, 2005 Unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do. Unless someone is posting direct pics of said offensive material, links are just what they are....a means to connect you to the intended content. This link gives us the choice to either click-on or cut/paste the text and pursue the destination. In my experience(believe me I have a lot....) unless it is impeding your day to day operations and impacting business and costing you money, all you can do is calmly ignore it and hope it goes away. sd-slider 0 #30 December 10, 2005 Note to add: I head up a 5000+ user, 18 site, 75 subnet college network system and I get half a dozen abuse complaints against my orginization every week. My only response is this: We operate under the guise of Firewalls and Proxies(look them up if the terms seem foreign..) and there is no way to pinpoint the exact time and place the abuse happened. We have 3 possible IP's that traffic can go out on and you can see my point... Sometimes your only choice is to deal with it or give upAnvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... AlexCrowley 0 #32 December 11, 2005 I dunno what sort of controls you have there. The first thing would be to turn off the guest book unless it's an authorized user, which kills the fun and free aspect but stops dickheads from spamming you. Second, this intarweb things cool. I can crack a box anywhere in the world from my chair here in the US of A. So basically... Stop worrying about the posters IP address, it means nothing to you unless you have direct access to ip based access control and you know for sure thats the originator (hint: YOU DONT!). Authenticate your users, turn off the feature, or put up with it. Or Write a simple shell script to scan user input and reject posts that only contain a web url or certain naughty words. IP addresses mean nothing. ARIN and Whois means nothing unless you know how to leverage them, and in this situation there's very little to leverage. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

AlexCrowley 0 #35 December 11, 2005 I think you misunderstood, I simply meant that a malaysian IP simply means that the computer was in malaysia, not the person doing the posting. Although cracking a box isnt exactly difficult in the majority of cases. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
