Bringing the best/worst out in people.

Recommended Posts

A certain poster has been told that he brings the worst out in people by another forum member.

Why would someone who makes a few people laugh
by their sense of humor, be made to feel like they bring out the worst out in people?

I have found this poster to be very funny on many occasions since they have arrived on DZ.com

Granted they do sail a little close to the wind in someof theirposts but now their posts are becoming more thought provoking and funnier.

Humor works in many different ways , some of us laugh at other peoples misfortune, some of us laugh at very bad jokes. I know myself I have laughed at things which shouldnt be laughed at at all.
Has this bought out the worst in me?

If Wayne Gacy didnt find their their posts funny and replied, would that be the worst in him coming out?

I dont think so.

A lot of people are very sensitive to a lot of subjects, I realise that this could be the case in life but hey lets cut some slack on some people.

I have been a member on this site for over 3 yrs now and I dont know of any other member having such an impact on the bonfire.

BTW I dont revel in the fact that they are winding people up and making them feel annoyed, but in some regards that is the funniest part that someone can "start" someone up so easily.
I think its great that somone can take emotions to different levels so easy.

Our lives can be changed by people like this.;)

When we read about topics and we get uptight, happy, sad, angry etc etc it shows that we care about how we feel on certain things and people that care are always high on my favorite list.

Id rather know someone that cared than somone that didnt.

My .5 cent worth, thats Kiwi cents too

anyone can be an asshole. anyone can stick there nose in, try to be funny, piss everybody off, and not know when to shut up, especially in posts that REQUIRE decorum or even a modicum of respect. (I thought brits were good at that kind of thing, no?)

I refer you to rebirth's post in the SC thread... I'm sure you've read it by now...

Oh, cut the politically correct crap or I'll bring my violin out for you!

WTF are you talking about?

I think it loosely translates to: Stop being so serious and thought provoking and "nice" about it all, or I'll play Cry Me A River on the world's smallest violin.

I dunno, my Jrafese is a little rusty.

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

Who said that the Brits were good at decorum?
I have never seen it written down anywhere.

As stated in my original post I do think they sail close to the wind sometimes and Im not defending their actions in these cases.

For someone that I have never met, spoken to or even seen to have such an impact shows how this person can cause an impression straight away.

How many people have you met that you thought "what a fucking jerk" about?

I have met many people like this and strangely enough most were skydivers.
Spens time to read between the lines and who knows you may get to like the person.

Just because people say the wrong thing sometimes doesnt mean that they are bad to the bone.

Honestly, who really cares? :|

Reminder: while there is no requirement to post about skydiving, or even skydive, to post on this board, there are alot people on this board that actually read/post/contribute to the site to actually contribute the sport, not just to try and piss people off. Posters that sit in bonfire and speakers corner all day long are kind of missing the point of this board, IMHO.

The fact that anyone could get riled up enought to break the personal attack rules and get banned from this site is quite literally mind blowing. Is DZ.COM such a big part of some peoples lives that if it or they are disrepected by someone else, they must defend their "E-Honor" and stop following the rules, rather than just turn off the PC and unplug for awhile. I mean think about it seriously, how hard is it follow the very few rules we have here and not get banned. Someone getting banned from a forum is the funniest thing about this board to me. Its an adult version of kindergarden "time out"......lol. C'mon, really, how hard is it to follow a few simple rules?

I will occasionally post in SC or Bonfire, but I try to keep the vast majority of my periodic posting on here related to skydiving, as I think may have been one of Sangiro's primary motivations when he first started this site, to give us a place to talk about the sport we love, skydiving, not to spend all day post whoring in Bonfire trying to get people upset by being "controversial".

i'm not saying he's bad to the bone... i'm saying he seems to lack the basic communication skills required to NOT piss off most people here, including those who make/enforce the rules. Case in point is what rebirth said in his post... making rude, insensitive remarks in a thread about the death of a loved one. so in person he may be a great, funny guy. on here he often comes across as a fucktard.

that's ok, on here I sometimes come across as a rabid, intolerant asshole catholic, but i try to temper that w/ other posts...

The purpose of the Bonfire........................
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sit back, relax and vent yer angst! This is the place for non-skydiving related discussions.

Some people are incapable of that.

Look at it this way, if a person has 2000 posts in 2 years, and 1990 of them are in Bonfire, and 10 are in Safety & Training, I would say, that while there no rules as to where you post or how often, that person is sort of missing the point of this site. And it is typcally that person, consumed with the "social aspect" of this site, rather than the "skydiving aspect" is way more likely to get banned or spoken to for abusing the rules. (Ron excluded from that comment......lol, he gets in trouble as much in the technical forums as he does here.....lol)

What if some people are more sociable than others and choose to have a laugh with people?

What if the poster likes to read posts about skydiving and dont feel comfortable about posting for info and would rather question this with a qualified instructor rather than take other peoples knowledge on board?

I know that I dont post too much in the other forums not because they dont interest me, but becuase I dont have the knowledge to ask about things. Id rather read about it first then ask questions later if need be.

Personally, I'm happier with reading what people more knowledgeable about things such as safety and training have to say rather than spreading my personal disinformation. Commenting in the fluff forums is less likely to directly injure someone.

He came in here, went to a thread where someone was grieving for a beloved pet, and showed absolutely no empathy for the loss. The post he made was mean, and he didn't apologize or show an iota of remorse, although I believe he made a rather ironic, cursory and meaningless "apology" at the tail end of the whole thing--several days and many posts later. Finally, he well-nigh hijacked the thread from its original purpose.

I don't know how you treat people, but this is not the way a family member deserves to be treated.

It's one thing to be funny, it's another thing to have no sense of proportion. I'm all good with dry humor, and I've got examples to point to. I'm not good with cruelty.

He is cruel. I don't like him for that reason, and so I don't find anything about him funny.

Im not defending his posts on the cruelty tip.
I was thought it was a bit inappropiate too commenting on this, but hey they are human, your'e human and we all make mistakes.

Roy Chubby Brown (a Biritsh comedian) had a gig in Bradford just after the football stadium fire.

He walked on stage and said " Well thanks for the invite to your bonfire last week" Complety in bad taste as people died there, but hey he is still liked and laughed at in the UK. Personally I dont like his humor I find it too crude, but thats my personal choice and I dont force it onto peole.

I think this person is alot more thoughtful than you realise.
Some people go through life and have bad things happen to them. It gives them a different slant on life.

If you want to chastise people for making mistakes and not like them then thats your perogative not mine.

It's about context. I have no problem with black humor. But there's a time and a place. As I said, he has no sense of proportion.

And you're welcome to think that. I find nothing redeeming about him. That's me. That's not you. But my experience with people like him (as he has shown himself here) is extensive, and I have seen how they manage to worm their way into the good graces of those who are not perceptive enough to realize that they will one day be just another victim.

I've had a very interesting life starting from the time I was quite small, and in the 47 years since, it hasn't gotten any less interesting. I know others who have had interesting lives as well. Having bad things happen to one is no excuse for cruelty. It just isn't. It's worse to know what pain is and inflict it, than to have no real understanding and inflict it unknowingly.

I didn't say you couldn't like him. Feel free. Just don't say that I should.
