AlexCrowley 0 #6 November 9, 2005 yup, funny as hell too. For those scratching their heads............From the FAQ... "The story behind the song goes something like this: It was originally recorded without Trevor, and no one told him about it. He found a copy of it, and in response to its being kept a secret from him, he added the "old man" lyrics like, "I know the secret song now," and, "they kicked me out of the band." To add another dimension to the secret nature of the song, knowledge of the new lyrics was kept from Mike until shortly before the album was released." Today I hit another obsessive cycle of playing all 3 CDs back to back and over and over - in a week or two it'll pass and I'll remain convinced they were the greatest band of all time. Lindercles 0 #8 November 9, 2005 by all three I assume you mean self titled, disco volante, and california. there's actually more early stuff. bowel of chiley, the raging wrath of the easter bunny, and goddammit i love america. very early stuff but interesting. I've also got their high school talent show performance. if you're on soulseek or aim i'll share it with you. btw, california=top five albums of any genre, EVER
AlexCrowley 0 #9 November 9, 2005 Yeah. I'm not much of a completist so I didnt go hunting them down. PM me with your AIM sn tho :) California's excellent overall, but the other two are so freaking good it's a tough pick between them all. DV is so ridiculous and absurd that it's also total genius. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
GrendelKhan 0 #10 November 9, 2005 So do ya'll listen to Tomahawk at all? I parsonally like them better, but there's no denying that anything Mikey touches turns to gold. The mans a genius. AlexCrowley 0 #11 November 9, 2005 Yeah I like the Tomahawk stuff a lot, I find it a little more straightforward so it requires different ears to hear it. MB just has so much stuff thrown in there that even after a few thousand listens I still discover new fun weirdness in there. One day I will write an opera that ties Slowly Growing Deaf, Egg, Carousell and My Ass Is On Fire and have it performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. But there's no denying that he is one of the most prolific geniuses the music world has ever seen.
