Up or Down?

Recommended Posts

My intent here is not to get into a useless debate about guys leaving the seat up. (Personally, my attitude is "open when in use, closed when not in use.") Over my many years on this planet, I've noticed that many of you ladies who complain about the seat are yourselves guilty of leaving the lid open. I believe that, in addition to it being more asthetically pleasing, closing the lid prevents things from being accidentally dropped in, which must then be retrieved, and provides the added bonus of keeping the thirsty dog away.

Your thoughts?

Cheers,
Jon S.

everyone should do their fair share... lift your appropriate lid(s) for your level of business and when finished, return all tray tables and seats to their full down and locked position. And ladies, don't EVEN start bitchin about men having bad aim... you ladies can be pretty fuckin messy on the throne... esp. when Aunt Flow comes to visit.

I always remember my Grandma saying to put the lid down "becuase no one wants to look in your toilet". I tend to agree. About five years ago there was a Dateline (or some show like that) that showed exactly how unsanitary it is to flush the toilet with the lid up. . . bacterial spray in about a six foot radius. And really, how big is the common bathroom? That convinced my husband and me to throw our toothbrushes away and to religiously put the seat and lid down.

having raised 2 female children and 2 wifes
I let the seat up when I am done.
that way everyone knows I cared enough to NOT drip on the seat

its just as easy for them to set it down as it would have been for to first lift it then lower it.

I voted lid and seat down - that way both have to pick something up and no one needs to worry about something accidentally being dropped into the toilet. B|

I am a single female...living by myself. Seat down, all of it.

I have two dogs, one of which would gladly drink from the toilet then give me Kisses B|

There was a show on recently that went through public bathrooms to see how sanitary (or un-) they are.

By far the highest concentrations of germs and bacteria were found on the handles, not just toilet, but the door handles and faucet handles. The toilet seat was really clean by comparison.

Then I realized God doesn't work that way.
So I stole one and prayed for forgiveness.

agreed! Close the seat, it's just easier that way. Granted if I'm by myself (i live by myself) I might leave the lid open, but usually I'll close it if others are around. It drove me nuts when my ex always left the seat up. When others are around, people should try to be more manner like.

In the "ideal" world, I'd prefer for the seat to be down and lid closed....but the in the real world with kids and of course men (some men).....will be hard to achieve.
