jimmytavino 16 #2 March 19, 2005 ... Is this the "Oz" story from the witch's point of view?????? I think I would like that... Past visits to Toronto for stage shows, have always been spectacular.....
CloudOnMyTongue 0 #3 March 19, 2005 It is an Oz show. With a twist With an interesting explanation of how the traditional Oz characters came to be. (I'm trying to be really vague to avoid spoilers.) It was spectacular.
kris12 0 #4 March 21, 2005 I just saw the musical this weekend myself and I just don't agree with you (though a lot of the people I saw it with do). I was so bored during the first act that I took a nap! I liked the way the story was tied to the Wizard of Oz and some of the lighting effects, but that's about it for me. I couldn't understand what Glinda was saying or singing (the band either drowned her out or the mic wasn't picking her up very well) and I thought that the band was a bit too loud. I did like the set up of the theater, which really provides a great view of the stage from most places in the theater. I sat all the way at the top and all the way to the side. It's funny - I like seeing the opera, where people can easily sing about the same thing for 10 minutes and I didn't like Wicked. It did look like fun to be a flying monkey though! kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

Lainey 0 #6 March 21, 2005 i'd love to see that! I'm very fond of books by Gregory Maguire, I read Wicked about 3 years ago and have enjoyed each of his books for adults since then. Can anyone who's read the book and seen the play tell me if the play is very true to the book? ChasingBlueSky 0 #7 April 30, 2005 Just came back from opening night in Chicago....damn good show. Not sure I will ever be able to watch Wizard of Oz the movie the same way again. It really shows how important point of view is when explaining history. I may need to read the book now._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... Why won't I see the show? From the previews I've seen, Glinda is 'showcased' next to Elfaba(Wicked Witch of the West) and that isn't really the case in the book. Its a complete retelling. You won't look at the Wizard of Oz movie the same way again. Elfaba RAWKS!! Get it today!! I expect a full report on Monday night!~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
