Here comes Wilma....Florida are you ready?

Recommended Posts

Just don't nail Louisiana again. Florida can handle it. Don't get me wrong, it'll suck, but it won't be the worst FL has seen...

Good luck Floridians - you're old hands at this by now, so batten down and hold on!

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

Here we go again

Current predictions show Hurricane Wilma making landfall somewhere south of Tampa on Saturday afternoon. B|

I worried for a long time about having a hurricane wreck our Deaf World Record event at Lake Wales last week, so I guess we got lucky! B| It must suck to live in Florida sometimes... Good luck with this one!

speaking of...maybe they should have "theme" names for the storms. astro, betty, charlie, dagwood, etc.

Enough already. The past two years have sucked with storms. :([:/]>:(

In West Palm, we're sorta ready...we're hopeful that the low pressure out west and north will force the hurricane south of us and even better would be south of the Keys. If that happens, we'll just get the high winds and rain on Saturday and all clear by Sunday sometime.:)

I just don't understand why Wilma would maintain strength after making landfall near Ft Myers to continue across to the east side of the state. Many from my area are already planning to evacuate northbound sometime tomorrow.:S

I hear SC is supposed to have great weather this weekend... Harvest moon anyone?

Wish I could... but I'm broke after 10 minutes in the wind tunnel and 18 jumps at the Deaf World Record in Lake Wales last week... but it was totally worth it! Three world records set! B|

Last year Frances & Jeanne made landfall over in West Palm. Charley made landfall in Pt Charlotte and look how devastated arcadia and inland cities got.

If Wilma stays as strong as she is, at a 4 or 5, and I lived on the opposite side of the state, I'd be getting the hell out.

You can bet if this thing is pointed anywhere within 100 miles of us (and right now it is) here we're on the road.

Florida are you ready?

Yep, I got my tequila.

If you, Jeff, and Rebecca are planning to stay..we should get together Saturday. Wilma is expected to be here in West Palm around 2 am Sunday. Cat 5 right now, but is expected to weaken to Cat 3 once in the Gulf outside Ft Myers.

Florida can handle it.

We can? Shows what the perception is out there is. For those of us that live here is is a different story. There are plenty of people still living in rudimentary housing and all. We are still building from last years storms.

How the hell do you know that? Are you a forcaster? It currently has the lowest pressure reading on record. In case you do not realize the lower it gets the stronger it is.

By this rationale we should be the only one's who can handle hurricanes?

Our Governor tried to help Louisiana. They just refused to listen. Thier fault.

I am sick of hearing about poor Louisiana when there are plenty of people here still homeless from last year!

Some of our soldiers are very sick from being in the rot over there in that shit town.

There are members of the military from all over trying to help Louisiana but they do not want to help themselves. It is all about "WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO GIVE ME?!"

Florida can handle it because we work together as a community. Mississippi is the same way. They help each other.

I am highly disappointed in your comments. I thought you were better than that.

I do not complain about the hurricanes but to say, " We can handle it", "Old Hands", and "It is not the worst" when it has not even hit yet?

C'MON!

You aren't 'south of Tampa' silly chick!! Let me pull out the map for you! :P But if it does come to G'ville, that will just be a good reason for another hurricane party! Woohoo!

Hey...they don't know that for a fact yet! It is quite possible for it to hit anywhere in florida. I am okay with a hurricane partay! But it isn't going to be at my house...way too many trees! [:/]

Um. OK. I take it back.

Jeez, did someone piss in your wheaties? :|

Oh, and none of the "I thought you were better than that." comments. You don't know me.

It's not like I'm wishing it on you, I'm saying Florida can handle it better than LA. Go back to sleep and try to roll out on the right side when you get up. :|

I don't know if I would've been so harsh, but people die here too during hurricanes. And it screws up our day-to-day lives and it costs us money and...

...everything that happened to individuals in LA happens to individuals here.

I could live the rest of my life without living through another 'cane.
