That would include the motel/apt I used to live in for 5 mos, and alll of Singer Island? Allright it better not fuck up Singer Island...I was planning on visiting back there someday. Have great memories of that place. Tell that damn hurricane to stay TF away from Singer I. I was living just between A1A and the intercoastal where they have the jet ski rentals. That was about 3 yrs ago. I'll let you know the condition of Singer Island after tomorrow. It's been beautiful blue skies out all day..hard to imagine we'll be experiencing such a dramatic change by morning. _________________________________________

jmpnkramer 0 #103 October 23, 2005 Quote We're gonna be fine. Big baby. [Wink] I know we will be. I just cannot stand someone who makes unfounded statements and downplays these things. Then tries to compare Hurricanes. None are the same. I cannot even imagine the damage over the Yukatan. It sat there for what two days? Kind of like an old video game I had on Intellivision II; "Utopia" Which btw is the last time I played video games. QuoteIt's supposed to weaken a ton before it gets to Florida. Stacy 0 #104 October 23, 2005 we're boarded up, stocked up on the necessities (beer, non-perishables, clean laundry, and things to keep the dog from driving us NUTS since she won't be able to go outside). Trying to watch something besides the weather channel, but everything is interrupted by beeps about tornadoes, etc.

HeatherB 0 #107 October 23, 2005 QuoteLt's see what it does. Are your parents O.K. ? I heard from my Dad again yesterday morning, but no word since then. They are probably just without power and can't email or call. I have a zillion relatives in the Yucatan. Hopefully they are all okay. (yeah, I don't look Mexican at all, but it's true, lol) Poor Naples. Looks like immediate Tampa area will be okay. I'm not looking forward to the morning drive into work though. If I die, someone sue my employer on my behalf, okay? All the schools are closed. Lucky little brats. Hey, on the bright side...a cold front is supposed to move in on Tuesday, so at least all those people w/o power will not die from heat exhaustion! Last year was awful. Hot and sticky for 4 days at my house and that was pretty lucky.
marcandalysse 0 #108 October 24, 2005 QuoteI'm not looking forward to the morning drive You're going to work tomorrow? As of now, this will hit mainland around 6am-9am.....Here in Sarasota County they are not expecting any storm surge, and not much rain, but winds will gust past 40-60mph, enough to knock down large trees (around here they have small root systems)....So my guess is you will feel the results up there too... As we learned last year, you never can really guess where the final track will hit. Thanks everyone for your concerns about us!! We were invited to pass the storm in Orlando, but we are staying at home. I am more worried about water leaks in my old house than anything else. We put the patio furniture in the pool, and brought in garbage cans and other small potential flying objects. If it was a stronger storm, we certainly would head out. Although for Charlie last year, which was predicted to hit Sarasota, it ended up entering mainland south of us, and cut right up the middle of FL, taking out Lake Wales and parts of Orlando. So you never can predict the wiles and fury of Mother Nature.... I am much more concerned about the safety of Bucky's family and their neighbors in the Yucatan. Wilma was supposed to hit and move on to us by last nite. Instead, Wilma stayed over Mexico hitting it hard for an extra day. Once again, thanks for thinking of us. And stay dry everyone! PS- We sure were surprised that they were skydiving yesterday at zhills! By the time we found out, we would have gotten there late. I guess the Otters will remain there, riding out the weather??? We're going to watch 'the gypsy moths'! But yeah, we are watching hurricane info on TV from time to time. Our fearless leader Gov Jeb Bush just got on the air reminding everyone with newly purchased generators NOT to keep them running indoors! Duh.... marcandalysse 0 #111 October 24, 2005 I just read the last posts to Alysse.... She replied to everyone 'Thanks for your thoughts...We are just hunkering down'.....(with her Brazilian accent) She learned that phrase (hunkering down) after Hurricane Charlie....it was a new addition to her vocabulary. There are no hurricanes in Brazil, amazingly enough with all that coastline!!! marc

A lot of people will call in sick because all the schools are closed and they have to stay home with their kids. And others will just say "screw it, I'm not driving through this crap." It's raining cats and dogs here. But not much wind yet.

My prayers are with you all and hope this thing ride through ok. Chris<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist!

skymama 37 #121 October 24, 2005 What I find strange is that as soon as the hurricane blows through, a cold front is coming in. Our high is only supposed to be 68 in my area tomorrow! Usually when we have hurricanes, it's still in the 90's and people who have no electricity really suffer. Broke 0 #122 October 24, 2005 We've got some funky weather going on. I am expecting a lot of Nor Easters this winter... more fun boat rides yeah! I wish I could take the zodiac out, but alas I am not coast guard aproved to drive that thing out. It would be fun though. When people at work complain about the boat ride I tell the to think of it as a ollercoaster, only you didn't just have to pay 60 bucks to get on.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly.
