Snoring

Hopefully you are not suffering from sleep apnea. Do you feel rested when you wake up? Do you find yourself tired all the time and nodding off while driving?

I am tired all the time. Waking up is really hard, especially on work days. Weekends aren't so bad but I still feel tired for a long time. Sometimes I get so tired at work I fall asleep at my desk. Sometimes I have to force myself to stay awake when I'm driving home and I have to pull over for a minute.

Find a sleep clinic and have a sleep study done. Try to find a clinic that doesn't just do sleep apnea -- there are other reasons for disturbed sleep.

Your insurance will probably cover it. Either way, the difference in your sleep will be noticeable.

Ya I agree with Wendy, see a sleep person... usually sleep apnea happens with larger individuals having their windpipes blocked because of overfatness and stuff. But I'm not sayin it can't happen to someone like you.

Are you calling me fat? :D

I really think it has something to do with that surgery. They cut into the front of my neck and pulled the windpipe and everything else aside with large metal meat hooks to get to the spine so maybe that made my neck muscles all weak and flabby. Damn modern medicine!

Do you sleep on your back?

Do you have to ask??? It does happen to be her most natural position for most daily activities...

GFD, do you snore on your knees?

Shannonbannon.... This sounds exactly like sleep apnea. I know, I have it, and have to use a CPAP device to get a good night's rest.

You need to see your doc and if it's not something easily correctable, you're probably going to need a sleep study.

Since you're not overweight, your two choices are probably going to be surgery or a CPAP unless your problem heals on its own.

With all the work they did in your neck, something may have shifted or you may have lost muscle tone or had some tissue enlargement causing your airway to become partially obstructed when you relax.

Good luck!

My brother went to a sleep clinic for his snoring and they told him that he has sleep apnea. That's great that he knows now, but the solution is for him to sleep with this big contraption on his face that's hooked up to some sort of machine. It doesn't really make for good cuddling...his wife sleeps in a spare bedroom now.
